Remote access

For some reason I am unable to access via the remote access portal. I also bought the app for my android phone and it also will not access media browser. If I type in the ip address assigned to my computer everything works fine as long as I work directly through my router. I've checked all possible firewalls, and nothing seems to be set up to block either port. Any help on this would be great. I absolutly love the program. Thanks

Did you forward the port to your local ip?

Do you have a modem that also has got a router inside? (If so, you also need to enable port forwarding in this one.)

The program doesnt respond to connections differently you are internal or external so it's all your networking configuration.

Does MB have a proper default gateway and can reach the internet?

If you know that it can get out then it is either a firewall or port forwarding problem coming back in that you are experiencing.

To test I would recommend trying to telnet to the server port.  Since it is normally 8096 the command would be telnet <ip_address> 8096.

Try this first from inside your LAN and you can see the behavior that you should expect - essentially a blank blank screen with a blinking cursor.  Then try from outside your LAN with the outside address.  You should see the same thing.  If you don't, then it it is a firewall or port forwarding problem, which it the likely situation with what you describe.

I tried port forwarding with no luck. I do a port check an it appears all ports are blocked. My router doesn't seem to be blocking any. Windows firewall isn't nor is norton. Charter (my ISP) tells me they don't block ports either. This is frustrating. Program worked just fine when I first installed. Now I'm also having problems with app on my Roku. It keeps shutting down.

If a port check shows that all ports are blocked it is a port forwarding or firewall problem.

Can you post some screen shots of your router/firewall/port forwarding configuration and I'll take a look and see if I can pinpoint the problem for you.  Please also indicate the internal IP address of the MB server.

Turns out when I accessed my router and initially tried port forwarding I must have done it wrong. I tried it again and everything is now working. Thank all of you who replied to my plea for help. I greatly appreciate it.
