Would like to see the ability to sort a library by the date of the last episode added.  That way all the most recent shows that are recorded can be at the top of the list.  Date added only works for the initial episode recorded.

Thanks!

go to the episode tab and you can already do this

I don't see it for the topmost level of a library.

go into a tv library > then select the episodes tab > then change the sort option

So you want Shows/Series sorted by last episode dates no date series was added?  Doesn't Next Up accomplish this?  Suggestions shows Next Up and Latest Episodes.  Or sorting episodes by date as PenkethBoy mentioned.  There are unplayed filters to accomplish this also.

Sorting really depends on the client you are referring too.

I think i did not explain it well enough.  What I would like is that at the top level of a library, that the overall position of the show is based on the date the most recent episode was recorded.  So if show "A" was recorded yesterday, it would be in the top left corner of the top level of the library.  Show "B" would be next to it, then show "C" etc.  If show "D" gets recorded today, then it would move to the top left corner, then a,b,c, etc.

You want a Series to be sorted by episode dates instead of Series date.

Thats what "Latest Media" row for tv does on your home screen if you set it

I understand what he is asking here.

When you go into a TV library and sort it by "Date Added" what comes back is the Series in the order that THEY were added to your system.

What you are probably really expecting there is for them to be sorted by the date the last episode was added to them (like the "Latest" list above).

The question is, is that an assumption we can make about that particular sort?  IOW - is there really any reason to see your TV series sorted by the date the SERIES was added to the system instead of the latest content...?

Yep, talk at the water cooler.  You find out about this "new show" you hadn't heard of that is now on episode 4.  You set a recording and acquire the older episodes you previously missed.  They are now up to 3 or 4 weeks old by air date but are brand new content for you to watch.

What question are you answering here...?

The proposed sort by "latest content added" would sort this to the top for you.

imo, no. I can see the reason explained by cayars but it seems fairly limited to me. i would expect this to sort by the date the last episode was added. i think what cayars is asking for is slightly different to what you are offering

just as a by the by, the sort options in the recorded tv library do not work. media is always sorted by the date that item was recorded. its not 100% clear if the discussion here is recorded tv or tv

From my perspective:

I added "Game of Thrones" to my Emby server 5 years ago.  Next spring (hopefully) when the last season starts coming in, if I set the sort order on my TV library to "Date Added" I'm expecting GoT to be up near the top - not down at the bottom.

I definitely think this is what most people would expect by default and can't think of why I would ever expect it to show it to me as it does now - with GoT somewhere way down the list...

And, if I add "The West Wing" to my system tomorrow - even though all the episodes aired forever ago, that would also sort at the top because they were just added to my system.

Yes, that is what I was asking for.  Had an example last night. Wife wanted to watch latest Mayans, but because I added that show weeks ago, it was near the bottom, rather than near the top due to a new episode.  With me changing from Kodi to Emby, she is "reminding" me of every difference.  Kodi skins can sort by latest episode added.

So, my request still stands... Pretty Please...
