negativzeroe 80 Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 (edited) So I came across this article about "web optimization" and wanted to know if Emby supports this. As in: If I did this across ALL my videos, assuming they don't have it, would this improve performance for streaming outside of network? I only have like 5 up and even dropping streaming value it kinda lags. https://rigor.com/blog/2016/01/optimizing-mp4-video-for-fast-streaming Edited October 7, 2018 by negativzeroe
Luke 42080 Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 Not necessarily. Best thing would be to pre convert to mp4s with bitrates your connection can handle. Our convert media feature can help with that.
negativzeroe 80 Posted October 8, 2018 Author Posted October 8, 2018 So then mp4 is handled better than mkv? If that's the case I'll be needing to convert most my library anyway lol. I've seen the convert task running but haven't seen it do anything from the file side.
Luke 42080 Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 mkv is a great choice as well. mp4 is the most universal format though.
