shadymg 0 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I swear this worked last week, but for whatever reason now when i go to delete a show i've watched, i get the error "Delete Failed - The selected media item cannot be deleted due to an unknown error" I didn't change any of the settings, so not sure what could've happened. I checked the file attributes, and it's not set to read only. And if i go through Explorer, i'm able to delete them just fine.
Deihmos 169 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I honestly think it is best to delete the folders instead of that function. It will only delete the media file leaving all the metadata and folder. I just enabled it and got that error but it isn't something that I use.
Macburp 112 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 +1 for this. I know the devs don't like having a delete function, but those of us who do want to delete our media within Mediabrowser would like it to work! For me, deleting files in explorer means walking upstairs to my PC (I have an extender) - bit clunky.
Deihmos 169 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 If they are shared folders you can delete them from any machine.
stixx2002 1 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 check the user permissions in the server dashboard. I will check when I get home
Macburp 112 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 check the user permissions in the server dashboard. And the answer is - the user did not have delete permission on the server. I'm thinking this permission was changed by recent server upgrades, as I certainly didn't change it. Ho hum. One more thing to check in future. Thanks for your help.
Deihmos 169 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I think this is a new option because I cannot remember seeing it before. That was the solution.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 An FAQ would've been nice eh? :-) It was in the Server update blog
Luke 42078 Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 check the user permissions in the server dashboard. 1
