oRBIT 0 Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 (edited) I'm having issues with Emby and my DS918+ (12GB RAM). I've installed it on both my iPhone8 and iPad (2018) but playback struggles sometimes (very noticable on my iPad, more rare on my iPhone). Trying to play some movies (local network) just results in a spinner for a short while and then it just stops, no messages, nothing. My media is usually h.264, 1080p/720p with AC3 or DTS audio. I have hardware transcoding active (VA API). Btw, HEVC media seems to struggle more often.. Blue flickering all over the screen.. I'm using Emby server 3.5.3.0 Hints are appreciated. rouq 23 Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 I don't know if it's related to your problem but the CPU on the ds918+ can addresses only 8GB of ram. (see intel specs). Also, it's dual channels. So it's highly recommanded to use a matching pair to enable dual channels. 12GB on 8GB dual channels bus, some weird stuff can happens. Does it explain you transcoding issue. Not sure.
oRBIT 0 Posted October 5, 2018 Author Posted October 5, 2018 That might be an idea of course, but I've read about many people using this device with different memoryconfigurations with no obvious troubles so..
rouq 23 Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 You should post logs. Especially ffmpeg logs so we can see what's is going in.
oRBIT 0 Posted October 5, 2018 Author Posted October 5, 2018 (edited) There aren't any ffmpeg-logs generated by movies (well the movie I just tried with anyway) that doesn't start (well, they could start at second attempt, or third or not at all, just to work later). I'm not entirely comfortable posting embyserver.txt logs here (personal information?), can I send a log personally to someone or? Edited October 5, 2018 by oRBIT
Luke 42077 Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Yes you can send via private message. thanks.
oRBIT 0 Posted October 6, 2018 Author Posted October 6, 2018 I sent you a logfile, Luke. Seems that it sometimes can't find the files (!?!?) just to be able to find them a few moments later..
Luke 42077 Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 file:/volume1/Filmer/Tv-serier/Z-nation/z.nation.s05e01.720p.web.x264-tbs.mkv: No such file or directory There's not much Emby will be able to do about that. That looks like either the file is missing, corrupted, or you need to look at file permissions.
oRBIT 0 Posted October 6, 2018 Author Posted October 6, 2018 The file *IS* there, it worked 15 seconds after this result. And I'd prefer if you not posted stuff from my personal messages in the public.
