Internet is out until Sunday and Emby doesn't work

So Verizon apparently cut my buried fiber line so I'm without internet until Sunday. Unfortunately I discovered that my Emby install does not work without internet access. The iOS and Samsung Smart App both say I need to buy premier (which I have). My Android clients can login but when I try to watch any media it stalls out and the web interface does essentially the same thing. I'm posting from work so I can't currently upload logs. I'm going to tether my work cell tonight so I can post logs tonight.

But I wanted to post now and ask a few questions and try to get some ideas of things to try when I get home. First off, am I correct in thinking that Emby should work without internet access? If not this is going to be a quick thread. I do believe I setup my main user account to use Emby connect but none of my other accounts have that feature enabled. So, my understanding is that while my main account may not work the other accounts should, is that accurate? I also have SSL enabled on the server but I created a temporary DNS record inside my network that points the external URL to the internal IP address of the Emby server so that should not be causing an issue and when I tested that last night I did not receive any certificate errors from Chrome.

Hoping you guys can help me out, being without internet is bad enough, but no Emby is really killing me. #firstworldproblems

It does work without internet access, but periodically it will need to validate Emby Premiere and it sounds like you may be at that point. Even if you haven't hit that point, there are currently some situations where it may create some stalls but we are actively working on resolving that.

When was the last time you used these apps?

That's good to hear, the internet outage started Wednesday at 1:10pm. The last time I watched something through Emby was around 1am that morning via my primary FireTV.

What version of Emby Server are you running?

Just updated it not too long ago so it should be the most up to date version. I don't remember the precise version number so I'd have to look when I get home.

And is the Fire TV app functioning properly?

I tried two different FireTV's, the primary has parental controls on and it would not let me launch due to no internet. I had no idea how useless FireTV's were without internet. Another FireTV without parental controls on would let me launch the app but would not play anything. I could select something but then I would get a black screen and then the app closed.

Okay, well it would be the primary one - which won't start due to Amazon restrictions - that we'd be interested in since that's where you said you watched something.

Can you hotspot to your phone or something temporarily just to allow the other devices to validate and then they should be okay for a while.

However, as you found out, the Fire device really only exists for the purpose of streaming Amazon content so it is built around internet access.

Yeah, with parental controls off I can go to the application settings and launch the app manually. I can connect those two Fire devices to my phones hotspot tonight, disable parental control and then switch back to my home wifi and see what happens when I launch it.

When they are on the hotspot they won't be able to communicate with my Emby server so are you saying they will validate on their own from the internet or when they reconnect to the server?

They will need to access your server too in order to validate.

So I guess that's not going to work...

Well after calling Verizon yesterday they came out today and replaced the fiber line that they cut through so I'm back up and running now so no need for me to do any further troubleshooting.

I did find that Emby was still working on the tablet I have in the kitchen. But it was the only client that still worked. Probably because the app is hardly ever closed on that particular tablet so it just runs 24/7.
