HatTrkPatrk 24 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) Hi, I decided to give the recent Auto-Organize feature a whirl, but it appears to be having a problem. I reviewed the "TV Settings" page and made a few changes to the episode naming format... By default it was "SeriesName - Sx0E - Title.ext" or whatever - but since the episodes are organized into Series\Season X folders, I didn't feel it was necessary to have the series name in the filename as well. Therefore, my files are organized as follows (by example): TV Shows \ House \ Season 6 \ 6x01 - Broken.mkv So I made that change in the TV settings of course. However, it would appear that all the entries in the Activity Log are marked red for failure because it can't tell what series the episodes are a part of? Unable to determine series name from M:\Videos\TV Shows\House\Season 6\6x01 - Broken.mkv That is listed 2,434 times... So I guess my question is, is this a bug? Or does the series name absolutely have to be in the filename for the individual episode? [EDIT] Thought I should post the actual entries I have setup in TV Settings: Watch folder: M:\Videos\TV Shows Minimum file size (MB): 50 Season folder pattern: Season %s Season zero folder name: Season 0 Episode file pattern: %sx%0e - %en.%ext Multi-Episode pattern: %sx%0ex%0ed - %en.%ext Transfer Method: Move Overwrite existing episodes: (unchecked) Delete left over files with the following extensions: (empty) Delete empty folders after organizing: (unchecked) [/EDIT] Edited April 10, 2014 by kevinmd88
woznicbh 11 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I personally have only gotten the auto organize to work when it does include the series name before the episode name as I don't think it looks at the directory name for any information just the actual video files.
Luke 42078 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 the library wiki covers the supported episode file naming conventions that we recognize. right now there is somewhat of a limitation that if you create a pattern with auto organize that the library scan doesn't support, then we won't be able to extract season/episode numbers from the file names. at some point it can be improved.
Tim Hobbs 91 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Just in case you decide you need to do some bulk renaming, these 2 tools are indespensible: FileBot - Uses tv/movie db data to help name files. This could make it pretty simple for you, as it does take into account path names, you'll just need to specify the naming format you want. Bulk Rename Utility - Super fine-grained control to rename files as you like. UI is hideous, but it works wonders...
HatTrkPatrk 24 Posted April 11, 2014 Author Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) Thank you for elaborating. I realize this feature is relatively new so you guys will probably tinker with it a bit in future releases... But I think for the time being I'll hold off on using this feature, at least until it can recognize the full path. Thanks! Edited April 11, 2014 by kevinmd88

SilentAssassin 96 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I think there is a mistake in your settings which will account for the thousands of errors. You are monitoring the folder which you store your TV shows in. You should be watching an external folder location not inside any of your library locations. The purpose of auto organise is that you then drop all you TV shows into this folder and they will be automatically moved to the correct series\season folder, renamed as you have set and them details downloaded and added to your library. 1
HatTrkPatrk 24 Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 How exactly would I organize my existing collection then? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
HatTrkPatrk 24 Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 Ah! Ok I see. I believe I misunderstood the purpose of this function, I thought it was a way to organize your entire collection based on the specified convention. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
bluemonkey07 590 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 There is a caveat there tho as auto organise currently does not create series folders,. The series folder must already exist
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 (edited) You can have it do your entire collection, but you would have to move all your episodes to a watch folder and let MBS Auto-Organize them. Edited April 25, 2014 by Happy2Play
