UI Issues (mostly live TV)

Just a couple quick issues I have encountered during the last few weeks of setup and testing.  I am using 2 HDHomeRun primes.  My cable system is Copy Freely.

1. I can't figure out what causes this sometimes, but occasionally, the 'red dot' that should appear in the guide doesn't appear.  I have 6 tuners, and the other day when I was testing, I could get the first 4 recordings to appear in the guide, but not the 5th.  Now today, I can't re-produce, but I am on a different machine.

2. I watch the recording through a different application that honors EDL files.  If I delete the .ts file from within that application, the 'Recordings' tab honors this, and will remove the file.  However, if I go into the 'My Media' Recordings folder, everything that I have deleted is still listed, and of course will error out if I try to play.

3. Not every file, and not really a UI issue, but I do sometimes have AV sync issues if I try to watch through Emby.  I am streaming over the internet, so transcoding is for sure happening.  I am using HW accelerated Nvidia GPU for transcoding.

4. When searching in the guide, if there are a lot of re-runs, Emby sometimes does not list any new/premier episodes.  It almost like it will only find so many airings, then it stops.  NCIS is a good example of this.  There are so many networks showing re-runs, I had to manually find the premier in the guide and record it from there instead of using search.  This isn't the end of the world, but I don't like setting recordings to 'All Channels' if I don't have to.  Is it possible to give Premier/New episodes priority in the search results?

4a.  It would also be nice if in the search results you overlayed either season/episode info, or new/premier/repeat info.

Also, a quick question, should I be leaving the nfo files after deleting the recording, or can I safely remove them?  I am thinking of not recording duplicates, etc.  Also, if I can delete the nfo files, and recording info is in the db, does the backup plugin backup that information?

For #2 this is normal. You have to either wait for the real-time monitor to pick up the change, or run a library scan. Why did you feel this was an issue?

When you delete media files, yes you can delete the related files as well.

It's been over a day since I have deleted some of the files, and they are still listed.  That's why I thought it was an issue...if they eventually go away, that is fine...how long should it take?

It would go away as soon as a library scan runs, so it depends on when you have that scheduled for. Default is every 24 hours.

It says it ran 18 minutes ago, but they are still there.  So I manually did a scan, with no change.  Anything else I can try?

I know if I delete the folders (with the nfo files, etc), they will disappear in the library as well.

Make sure the video files are gone. Try restarting the app that you're using.

Video files are for sure gone.

I am just using the Emby web interface to check it.  Again, they show as removed from the recordings tab under Live TV, but under My Media|Recordings, they are still listed.

Why exactly do you feel they're still listed?

All I know is that if I delete the folder it was recorded in, it disappears.  My thought was that maybe it was reading the nfo file, but I don't know the inner workings of the software, so I really don't know why it's still there.

I suppose if I start deleting the folders, then this will be a non issue.

Oh, I did remember 1 other thing I wanted to post in the original post:

I'll add this to the original post as well.

Well they are ordered by start date, but the episode info has been added for the next release, thanks.

Hi.  If this was a part of a series, then deleting the last episode is not going to make the series go away.  Is that what you are seeing?

perhaps.  So you are saying that under 'My Media', if you have say a recording for the series NCIS, but you have watched and deleted the .ts file, then the banner for that season and series will remain, even though there are no actual video files left?  It also has a 'play' button, and will throw an error if you try to play it.

Okay, yeah, then the only issue there is that it should not be presenting you with the play option.

Removing all the episodes does not delete the series.  You can, however, delete at that level if you wish...

Got it, thanks for the clarification.  I would agree that the play button should be fixed, but at least I know what is going on now.  Thanks again.
