drashna 47 Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 OS: Windows 10 Pro x64 Emby Version: 3.5.3.0 Basically, the movies don't show up. Not just for one folder, but for any collection marked as "Movies", it won't show up. Or rather, it will ... eventually, but only in the web browser on my local network. And even that takes 2-5 minutes. They never show up on the android app or in the web browser on Android. They don't show up in the Emby Theater app for windows or the XBOX One, and they don't show up for the Roku app. So, while I *could* get app logs here, I suspect that this is a server side issue. emby logs.zip
Luke 42083 Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 The next release of emby server will perform much better. I don't think you'll have this issue anymore. thanks.
drashna 47 Posted September 29, 2018 Author Posted September 29, 2018 Glad to hear it. Is there an ETA for that? And if not or if it's a while aways, would it be worth using the beta? (understanding that I probably can't easily revert)
Luke 42083 Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 In your case, given the slow performance you've reported when using Collections, I expect that the beta will have you jumping for joy. 1
drashna 47 Posted September 29, 2018 Author Posted September 29, 2018 Sorry, to clarify, I really should have said ***libraries***. Any library set to the "Movies" type has this issue.
drashna 47 Posted September 30, 2018 Author Posted September 30, 2018 In your case, given the slow performance you've reported when using Collections, I expect that the beta will have you jumping for joy. It needs a clean installation, doesn't it? Trying to install it on top of the existing version doesn't work for me, unfortunately. No error in the logs, just .... "nothing". server is unreachable, even on localhost.
Happy2Play 9783 Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 It shouldn't, just a library scan. Does restarting Emby or the machine help?
drashna 47 Posted September 30, 2018 Author Posted September 30, 2018 (edited) Restarting emby doesn't help. The website is still not accessible. I haven't tried rebooting the machine, but I don't think that would make a difference. Specifically, chrome reports the error as "ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED" Edit: I was apparently being too impatient. It ... finally loaded, but definitely took a lot longer than I would have expected. However, on my main system, ... I removed almost all of the plugins and the issue has resolved itself. So it looks like there may be an issue with one of them. Edited September 30, 2018 by drashna
Luke 42083 Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 Can you provide a log from when you tried to start it up? I can add a check to the server to prevent the bad plugin from loading. thanks.
drashna 47 Posted September 30, 2018 Author Posted September 30, 2018 Can you provide a log from when you tried to start it up? I can add a check to the server to prevent the bad plugin from loading. thanks. To clarify: For the beta, it looks like it was updating/converting the database, and I was impatient. For the plugins... I've removed them all, and reinstalled them one by one. The issue hasn't come back. So ... my best guess is that maybe one of the dlls got corrupted during a power loss a month or so ago and cause this weird glitch. At least that's what I'm hoping. I can still grab the logs, if you'd like. But I don't see anything indicating ... well anything but normal operation.
Luke 42083 Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 When you reinstalled the plugins you must have gotten newer, compatible versions. if you could provide your last log from 3.5.x i can try to find the offending plugin version that was causing the startup crash. thanks.

I don't believe there was a startup crash. It was just not responding while doing the DB upgrade...
drashna 47 Posted September 30, 2018 Author Posted September 30, 2018 I don't believe there was a startup crash. It was just not responding while doing the DB upgrade... Yeah. I realized that later on Though, I think that my database was corrupted in some way. It looks like the movies was fine for a while, but would eventually have this issue again (on 3.5.3.0), and a library scan would trigger it to occur, as well. Right now it's the 3.6 beta, and we'll see if that fixes the issue.
drashna 47 Posted October 1, 2018 Author Posted October 1, 2018 @@Luke and @ebr Looks like the beta is working great and fixes the issues! I can see the movies, and access them. Even after an hour or so, I wasn't able to, so I feel confident saying that it has been fixed in the beta.
