Transcoding failure when not set to 'auto' quality

I have a user who has been watching through Breaking Bad and started to get the 'No compatible streams are available' error. Through some poking around we discovered if he has the stream quality set to anything other than 'auto' he gets this error.

I can't reproduce this error myself however. Playing the exact same file in the web app or android app lan/wan works fine for me.

 

 

Attached is an example of him attempting to play S02E08 with quality set manually. When set auto the server is able to direct play it to him but poorly because of his slow comp+net so he needs lower bitrate.

Try turning off quick sync.

Id really like to keep utilizing the 8700k I just bought. At least until I can get a couple more pay cheques under my belt for a 1080ti. (its a gaming comp as well as my emby server)

Is that my only option?

 

Why would it only be having trouble with his stream and not my attempts at recreating it with the same file+settings?

Have you tried disabling just decoding?

Pretty sure it was already (the bug where it disables itself) , but ill do some testing
