sixmiles 0 Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 Hi, I really don't understand why I can't create a guest user with absolutely no access to changing the profile. I often have people AND curious KIDS !!! staying with me and we don't have TVs in guestrooms. It would just be so easy if this would be possible. I understand its possible with removing it from the browser with CSS ... come on, its the age of phones and tablets and apps. Besides that, I think its so much cooler than PLEX Kind regards Peter
Luke 42079 Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 Hi, it's possible for the future. Thanks for the feedback.
sixmiles 0 Posted September 26, 2018 Author Posted September 26, 2018 Hi, Without knowing how the back of the software is functioning, tablets are often the structure, working with true and false (or similar). Couldn't it for an easier soft opening look like the user is changing stuff, even looking like its saving it. But in the reality, nothing is saved, since the saving is getting a 'false'. I know its not ideal and the full solution, but sometimes less is way enough. Kind regards Peter
Luke 42079 Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 No, because that will only bring us more troubleshooting with complaints of "not working".

Ability to block per user manually from these changes (user icon and password). <EnableUserPreferenceAccess>false</EnableUserPreferenceAccess>Restart server after change. I didn't. Thanks for guiding me. Is this also removing it from the app's? Could you guide me a tiny bit how to use it? Kind regards Peter

You can see the userid in the url when clicking on a user in Dashboard-Users. Go to the users id folder "\Emby-Server\programdata\config\users" and look at the policy.xml.

Happy2Play 9781 Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 User setting have nothing to do with being admin though. But there is currently no way to block users from adjusting their user preferences.
