GENRES for horizontal view - picking up movie coverart for tv library

My television genres in the horizontal view (as seen on LG Tv app 1.09 and the Emby Theatre App for Windows) picks up cover art from my Movies library for genres under my TV library?

 

I'd expect it to pick up only TV coverart for each of the genre tiles, as I have more than enough content to pick cover art from to make up the tiled image.

 

I have some images to show what I mean. You an see movie cover art in the tiles for a TV library. Other genre tiles show correctly with tv programme cover art.

It is currently by design because the genre objects are shared and this dates all the way back to media browser when it was imagesbyname/genres.  it's something we could always change in the future.

1. As MB is now dead in the water (even I am trying to fully go Emby after years of loving MB!) can you PLEASE sort this?

 

Its just so odd seeing the wrong content in either movies or tv libraries. Or at least make it possible in Meta Manager to upload one's own primary image for genre?

 

 

2. I also noticed the GENRE picker on the ROKU would use either primary OR the thumb? Even if both existed, it would use the THUMB instead of Primary?

 

Here's where the plot thickens, as for a genre, say Animation under Television, the primary image may be correct in showing a tile of tv animation programmes, but the thumb would have Animation from Movies!

The ROKU client for example would take the THUMB some of the time despite a perfect primary image. I tried to delete the THUMB for each genre in Emby Theatre (MS Store app, latest version as of 30/09/2018) and it pretended to, but didn't actually delete it (user can manage content). My goal was to FORCE using the Primary image.

I did, but the meta manager wouldn't delete the THUMB I wanted to delete to favour the primary. It pretended to, but going back in and it hadn't?

 

I did this in Emby Theatre app 1.1.228.0 as the web client doesn't expose the genre clipart (as text headings).

It probably generated a new one right after doing that. What i would try instead is just replacing it with a new one of your own.
