Chytharo 1 Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Is there a way to remote access my server from the internet without port forwarding? Because my internet provider only assigns dynamic IPv6 addresses, like most non-telekom providers in germany, and they don't support port forwarding. If not, is there at least a way to stream things on my server by accessing it from somewhere else over the internet, or does my provider kill any online streaming functionality, too?
Luke 42085 Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Hi, I don't think it's going to work without port forwarding, or putting the server somewhere else. @@pir8radio may have some ideas. Thanks.
atropa 10 Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 (edited) Hello. I think Dslite is the problem here right ? If so there is a service called " Portmapper". So you can " communicate " with ipv4 adresses. http://www.feste-ip.net If you are at Unitymedia you can order order the upload boost option and change from dslite to dualstack with ipv4 and ipv6 . Then you can do port forwarding. Regards Edited September 25, 2018 by atropa

I doubt they give you a dynamic ipv6 address with countless available it doesn't make sense to not assign each customer an ip. But anyway Ipv6 addresses usually always have all ports open to your router/firewall that is where you will have to open the port/ip. are all of your home PC's ipv4 or are they both 4 & 6? I don't see any reason why you couldnt get through your firewall using ipv6 unless its not native ipv6.

Indeed I'm with Unitymedia and today they agreed to change me to dual stack after adding the upload booster to my contract. Now remote access, VPNs and other things, I had issues before, are finally working flawlessly. 1
