TroyRWilkins 2 Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Hi everyone. I recently thought I'd see if there were any viable alternatives to Plex, found Emby and thus installed it on the same machine I have working as a Plex Media server, so I could make a proper apples to apples comparison. My use case is that I have a old Core 2 duo machine running Ubuntu, which has a couple of USB hard disks plugged into it with some of my media, and a NAS on the network with some of the other media - I'm slowly upgrading the NAS to have more storage and moving the media from the USB hard disks to the NAS as more space is added to it. I am extremely impressed with Emby, and seriously considering dropping my Plex pass and instead investing in Emby. I particularly love the 'collections' feature, but this brings me to the difficulty I have. I have all the Fast and Furious movies ripped from DVD and BluRay to storage. Plex finds them all, but it doesn't have the collections feature that Emby has. The problem is that Emby doesn't find them all. The troublesome one is the 6th movie. I've tried naming the folder "Fast 6 (2013)" "Fast & Furious 6 (2013)", "Furious 6 (2013)" and even "Fast and Furious 6 (2013)", but Emby doesn't seem to find it. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.l
Guest asrequested Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 (edited) What is your folder structure? Have you followed the naming structure? https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Movie%20naming Edited September 23, 2018 by Doofus
Luke 42085 Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Also what do you mean by not finding them all? Are they not showing up at all? Or are they showing up, but without internet metadata?
TroyRWilkins 2 Posted September 23, 2018 Author Posted September 23, 2018 (edited) Movies/Fast 6 (2013)/Fast 6 (2013).mp4I have tried changing both the folder name (directory) and the file name to the various versions in the first post. It's particularly frustrating as Plex finds it, but there remains the gap in the Emby Fast and Furious collection between 5 and 7. And not even showing in the movies list in Emby. It's finding all the other Fast and Furious movies and getting the correct metadata for them. Edited September 23, 2018 by TroyRWilkins
Luke 42085 Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Well that screenshot is just a collection. That's not your movie library. It's possible the movie could be in your emby library but just not part of that collection. Have you checked the all movies list?
Guest asrequested Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Themoviedb wants to call it 'Fast & Furious 6' https://www.themoviedb.org/search?query=Fast%20%26%20Furious%206&language=en-US
Happy2Play 9784 Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Does movie appear via search or in the Metadata Manager? Where doe your store your metadata? A unidentified movie will not show up in a Collections as it has no collectionid.
TroyRWilkins 2 Posted September 23, 2018 Author Posted September 23, 2018 Oh... I worked it out... I'm an idiot. Sorry everyone. It was stored on a drive that the Emby server can't access, which is why it wouldn't find it. Sorted now. Mods, please feel free to delete this and I apologise for wasting everyones time.
TroyRWilkins 2 Posted September 23, 2018 Author Posted September 23, 2018 If anything, the fast, helpful responses here have only made me more likely to dump Plex and invest in Emby. Thank you everyone. To answer a specific question asked above, yes I know I was only showing the collection for the Fast and the Furious movies, as when looking at the Movies, it only showed the collection in the list, and if I did a search it would only show, of course, what matched the search criteria. 1
