Better than Nvidia Shield..?

I already have a windows machine in my house to run MS Money, no need for a 2nd :)

Well, "better" is certainly subjective (depending on your requirements) but this is just another NUC, correct?  Just another way to have a small HTPC.  Therefore, I don't really see how it relates to the Shield which is a completely different kind of device.

Yes your right, I guess my thought process was:

I need to extend emby to other To other rooms in my premises (OS type neutral) what can direct play the majority of my media (including 4K HDR/ Atmos) in a small form factor, that has reasonable Cooling, has expandable sata port (for cheap space expansion) has remote potential (home automation) and is a reasonable price (doesn’t have to be the absolute cheapest) and will not add to much overhead for me to manage/setup

Thanks for the valuable information. Can any one recommend a NUC with Kaby Lake or newer processor ( with expandable sata port) that with directly play 4K hdr10?
