stefan416 0 Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Hi all, I have a question regarding playing movie files via Emby to my Mibox. The file being played is a 4K HDR HEVC at a bitrate of 57.52 mbps. It plays without fault via ethernet and the dashboard for Emby states Direct play. However when I start the movie from the Emby client it defaults to 21 mbps and I must switch to 100mbps in the menu. Is this 100% Direct Playing or is it transcoding something? Also how can I set the default to directly stream at the maximum bitrate automatically instead of defaulting to 21 mbps? Thank you all!
Guest asrequested Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 The MiBox doesn't have ethernet. Are you using a USB adapter? Mine is wireless and it connects at 110Mb/s.
stefan416 0 Posted September 20, 2018 Author Posted September 20, 2018 Yes, I just bought myself an AmazonBasics Gigabit Ethernet adapter. No problems so far with the apparent dreaded disconnects when waking from sleep that Ive read about with some adapters which is nice. I didnt seem to have a problem wirelessly streaming my 50mbps movie via wireless since I have quite a robust wireless network setup but I prefer wired when I can for my devices for stability and throughput. Especially for streaming content.
Guest asrequested Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 Maybe the adapter is affecting the bandwidth? Have you tried setting the MiBox bandwidth to 100Mb/s?
ebr 16195 Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 Hi. Just change the max bitrate in the playback settings screen of the app and it will remain that way.
