unisoft 352 Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Does anyone know if using Freeview in UK, which is dvb-t and dvb-t2, recordings are exactly as transmitted or are they transcoded from device to storage? If I use an internal tuner like TBS or hauppauge, it records an exact copy of the broadcast (no DRM on actual transport stream in UK). Obviously I would be on gigabit LAN when recording not a mobile or internet connection. In UK, dvb-t is mpeg2 SD and dvb-t2 is h264 (mpeg4) HD. Thanks
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Yes - they are saved as native streams - with HDHR or Hauppauge tuners why do you think they would be transcoded - is this via emby or standalone
unisoft 352 Posted September 19, 2018 Author Posted September 19, 2018 (edited) Via emby using Synology server app and LG TV app. I was getting impression from reading stuff it was a transcoded/re-encoded stream. If it's as broadcast, I'm happy with that Thanks Edited September 19, 2018 by unisoft
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Yes saves the stream when you record via emby
