xilex 9 Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 I was on an old version of Emby Server (3.2.x?) and the Emby Connect required an update to continue functioning. I tried using the update function on the dashboard but a restart didn't seem to have an actual update. I then downloaded the latest setup.exe file from the website, ran that, it downloaded and installed, then self-terminated. Nothing loaded, Emby Server icon in the start menu didn't do anything. Running EmbyServer.exe didn't do anything. I then downloaded embyserver-win-x64-3.5.2.0 file and unzipped that into the system directory where the old Emby (and the newly updated Emby) was installed. But running EmbyServer.exe again did not load anything. Advice? Thanks.
Luke 42085 Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Hi there, can you please attach the emby server log? You can learn how to do that here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
xilex 9 Posted September 17, 2018 Author Posted September 17, 2018 Here is a log. There are no new logs after updating via the setup.exe file or extracting the stuff to the /system/ folder. server-63672727397.zip
Solution Luke 42085 Posted September 17, 2018 Solution Posted September 17, 2018 Run windows update and make sure windows is fully up to date. That is a requirement now when using windows 7. Thanks. 1
xilex 9 Posted September 17, 2018 Author Posted September 17, 2018 Oh I see. Thanks. Installing just the two KB updates here seems to fix it.
Luke 42085 Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Thanks for the feedback. @@Happy2Play fyi, we finally have narrowed this down.
xilex 9 Posted September 17, 2018 Author Posted September 17, 2018 It was thanks to this specific post I found after you said Win7 needed updates, where poster mentioned the .NET Core stuff: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/55979-fresh-win7-install-cant-install-server/&do=findComment&comment=544426 I attempted to install the 2015 Redistributable first but it looks like if you have 2017 installed already it's fine (notes). And then I already had first KB update installed when trying to install that, so it was the second one that was missing.
