apache07x 1 Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Hi I am new to this service and forum. Are there any basic setup guides around I'm missing? I mean it is pretty straight forward but for some reason I can't get the plug ins to populate properly. Eventually if I click in and out between dashboard and plug in it eventually populates but then when I install something it says it installs but doesn't. Getting very frustrated. Is there a reason why the list isn't populating for me? I have a 300mbps internet connection that's testing at 450mbps so I'm pretty sure it's not internet speed. All seems to be installed correctly I did uninstall and reinstall once already. The server is running on a synology ds718+ if that makes any difference. New system 6tb disc space 6 gig ram Intel celeron processor. Fairly good unit for home use I'd say. Can anyone help me out. Talk to me like a dummy because at this point I think I am.
ebr 16184 Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Hi. Have you seen our wiki? Also can you please describe more fully the issue you are having? Thanks. How to Report a Problem
apache07x 1 Posted September 16, 2018 Author Posted September 16, 2018 (edited) When I'm in the server dashboard and I click into the plugins section to try and install a plug-in from the database for IPTV all the database does is sit there and spin. I did get the plugins database to populate a couple of times and I tried to install netPVR. The server said it installed and I restarted the server which didn't want to restart it just sat there spinning the spin of death. Finally I just restarted the whole server (synology unit) and when I went back in it had not installed. So my two main problems seem to be the plugins database does not want to populate and the command to restart does not work. If I have any other problems I'm unaware of them. Any suggestions why this is not populating the database and not wanting to restart with the restart command? Edited September 16, 2018 by apache07x

ebr 16184 Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Hi. What version of the server did you install?
apache07x 1 Posted September 16, 2018 Author Posted September 16, 2018 (edited) I don't know the version number off hand but I just downloaded from emby website last night for synology Nas. I'm out and about at the moment. But I can get a version number for you later. @apache07x Edited September 16, 2018 by apache07x

Luke 42078 Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Please attach the complete emby server log, thanks.
ebr 16184 Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Please do attach the log but this is almost certainly some sort of local network configuration problem where something is blocking access to our domain (mb3admin.com).
apache07x 1 Posted September 19, 2018 Author Posted September 19, 2018 Okay. But a little guidance how exactly do I pull the log off of the server? I see a section that says logs but I go in there it's just a bunch of little boxes with different items in them do you want me to try to go to the plugins again and then immediately go to the log and grab the latest one? Copy and paste?
ebr 16184 Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Hi. The topic I linked to up in this response has complete instructions on how to locate and attach your log file. Please locate the actual file and follow the instructions for attaching - not copy and paste. Thanks.
apache07x 1 Posted September 19, 2018 Author Posted September 19, 2018 Log.txtLog2.txtLog3.txt Hi @@ebr okay so I think I have this right. On a side note although I have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times there is definitely something broke. It also does not like to restart or shut down and now it's giving me issues streaming as well. I believe I'm attaching log files for all of these occasions. Hope someone can help
ebr 16184 Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 As I suspected - looks like network configuration. In fact, it looks like ALL outbound requests are failing to all sites. You need to be sure the application has access to the internet.
apache07x 1 Posted September 19, 2018 Author Posted September 19, 2018 Thanks @@ebr Could that be the router causing that? I probably need to set it up to port forward don't I? Side note I have lan1 going through the router and lan2 going directly to the modem. Might that be a problem too? My thinking in doing that was if the router fails or does something funny I'd have a straight line to the modem. But not sure it actually works like that.
Luke 42078 Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 It could be a problem, yes. You may also have some kind of security software or firewall that is blocking all communications.
apache07x 1 Posted September 19, 2018 Author Posted September 19, 2018 Ah I do have an antivirus native on the server no firewall that I know of. Could the antivirus cause that?
apache07x 1 Posted September 19, 2018 Author Posted September 19, 2018 Okay I'll start with seeing if there's a way to allow emby to pass through it. If not I will uninstall it. Then if that doesn't help I put a port forward into the router for the nas and emby. I'll let you know if any of it works thanks
Luke 42078 Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Port forwarding won't help in this case because that's something you use for inbound communications. What you're having trouble with is outbound.
apache07x 1 Posted September 19, 2018 Author Posted September 19, 2018 (edited) Still not populating the plug ins. I took anti-virus off, switched ports on the LAN lines, unhooked 1 LAN line and port fowarded the NAS and made it static just in case it was changing IP addresses and still nothing. Does seem to be streaming TV now. I believe one of the channels was causing the problem there as it just started doing that once I put all of the channels I wanted on it. So I'll just keep removing channels or start over although I hate to mapping the TV Guide is a pita. Is there a way to do a backup on the guide? But I don't know why it won't connect for the plug ins. Edited September 19, 2018 by apache07x
