Embed code for other sites?

Hello,

I wonder if it is possible to generate embed code for videos which you can post i. e. in other forums or sites - similiar like in YT (with a preview and player look)?

Thanks and best regards

Not at this time but it's possible for the future. Thanks.

And again "Hi" ;-),

I think that this really is a very important feature. So can you please let us know if there is a chance to implement that feature soon?

Best regards

You should create a Feature request in the appropriate forum.  If people agree with you they will "like" your suggestion.  The more likes you get the higher the priority it will receive.

To me it is not particularly important compared to other things BUT you may get support.

Hi.  I will warn you that this is a bit of a sticky issue because we cannot be viewed as any sort of "File Sharing" platform.

Hi,

how do you mean that?

I am running a root server with Jomsocial. And I would prefer to deliver MY videos to other community members by help of my own video streaming platform on the same root server instead of Youtube etc. Because I wanna have control about the videos I provide.
One cannot expect that other community members have to register separately for an account at my embyserver!

Best regards

Not saying it cannot be done.  It is just the type of feature we have to be very careful with because it can be construed as being a "File Sharing" platform which some of the external items we rely upon (app stores and payment processors) expressly prohibit.

Hi,

now that about 2 years have passed, I would be interested to know if Embyserver has outgrown its infancy and can also be integrated using embed code?!

Thanks in advance and kind regards

As ebr mentioned nearly 3 years ago this isn't something on are radar to do because of the way Emby could be construed in sharing environments or type of sites that could get us in trouble with the different app stores.

We take these types of things very seriously and try to not blur the line on these types of things.

This is not a problem characteristic of emby, insofar - with all due respect - the justification is very weak in my eyes.

I can understand your position, but keep in mind Emby isn't designed to be a corporate server fitting into an existing corporate or social eco-system.  It's designed to be a standalone personal media server for personal use of family and close friends.  That is the objective and the design is based on this.

The software at present requires a login on purpose and doesn't allow links to media as a download or play stream and this is by design without first logging in. Opening up the server to allow specific media to be played back via link isn't something we want to support currently as that can become a sticky mess as ebr has already mentioned.
