DLNA is for "dumber" devices, like if your TV has built in DLNA compatibility you could play stuff to it without using a separate machine (except from the server and the tv ).

You can "Send To" your TV/HTS with no client (MB Theater, Roku, etc) right from the server as long as you have a newer device that supports DLNA
