jasonmcroy 316 Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 Hey guys. I think I know my issue with not being able to connect remotely, but I can't figure out how to fix it. However, I may be wrong entirely. So, when I installed Emby on a different computer last week it looks like the automatic port mapping via updp is still pointing to the old internal ip address on the computer I originally had it installed on. So, when I look at my router settings under upnp it shows that port 8096 is assigned to the old ip address and I can't see a way to change the settings for it on my router to changed it to the new ip address. It won't allow me to manually open that port either because of this. Hope my explanation makes sense. Any ideas?
Luke 42083 Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 You may need to remove the old port mapping from the router manually.
jasonmcroy 316 Posted September 15, 2018 Author Posted September 15, 2018 Ok. I will have to figure out how to do that. I remoted into that computer but I don't see any options to remove it.
Guest asrequested Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 Have you tried turning off automatic port mapping? I never use that. 1
jasonmcroy 316 Posted September 16, 2018 Author Posted September 16, 2018 Have you tried turning off automatic port mapping? I never use that. Funny, I just came here to post that my handling overall is turning it off! lol I could have just turned it off, reboot the router and then that clears out any programs using it that aren't current. However, I decided to just turn it off and manually port forward what I need. This is a new router I purchased about 3 months ago and the prior one I think didn't have upnp functions on it (it was my ISPs router) so I always just manually did it on that one. So, I never new really what upnp did and until now didn't understand why Emby just worked before without me doing it manually (on my other computer setup). Now at least I know how it works and what it's purpose is.
Guest asrequested Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Do you have it disabled in the server, too?
jasonmcroy 316 Posted September 16, 2018 Author Posted September 16, 2018 I disabled it at the same time, yes.
Guest asrequested Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 So you have everything working, now?
jasonmcroy 316 Posted September 16, 2018 Author Posted September 16, 2018 Yep, all good now. I considering doing another "Thank You" post because in my desperation (my wife and I are out of town for the weekend) I re-installed my Plex server because I am trying to keep up with the Weather Channel since I have family in N.C. that have gone through this hurricane. I have the Premium TV service through Silcondust. However, Plex SUCKS SO BAD!!!!! I remember now why I uninstalled it in the first place. It won't play any Live TV. It does nothing but buffer, freeze up and just is terrible. However, now that I have Emby up and running with the ports properly forwarded it is playing like an absolute champ! Live TV is coming through clear and streaming without a hitch. Much to my surprise it is even direct playing! It looks just as good as it does at home on my own network! I then remoted back into my computer back home via my laptop and uninstalled Plex once again.
