thekingswolf 48 Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 (edited) So i'm having this weird issue where emby is duplicating this single episode from this show, and naming it mobile something and creating all these .vtt files? No other file is being duplicated like this, and i can't see anything in the log where it's being done. I've deleted these files twice now and this is the third time Emby is replicating just this same episode. Any ideas on what this is and why it's happening? It's episode 9 Edited September 15, 2018 by thekingswolf
Luke 42085 Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 Sounds like you created a conversion for it
thekingswolf 48 Posted September 15, 2018 Author Posted September 15, 2018 where? how? I haven't even watched it yet. I did notice some buffering for my users recently, and i looked at my dashboard and the Cloud & Folder sync was running and frozen at 1.5%. I don't sync to the cloud, so i stopped it. It happened again later, so I stopped it again and this time went into the Scheduled Tasks and deleted the task trigger. After your message about creating a conversion, i went and looked at my dashboard again, and the cloud and folder sync was running again, once more stuck at 1.5% and the file in question was "processing" in the download and sync section. I removed it and deleted the files, but i have no idea why this is happening. I never use any of the cloud sync or download functions, i have that disabled for every user. Any idea what's causing this? I'm not familiar with the download and sync function of Emby, it never made much sense to me since my library is way too big to store on the cloud, so I never looked into it.
Luke 42085 Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 You must have used the convert feature and selected the mobile profile. When you select the mobile profile, .vtt is the subtitle format that is used because that's what mobile browsers support. Therefore we can conclude that the server is doing everything you've asked it to do. We need to improve this, but conversion tasks are managed in the same place as download & sync tasks. So in the server dashboard go to Download & Sync, then you'll see the conversion jobs. You can cancel them from there.
thekingswolf 48 Posted September 15, 2018 Author Posted September 15, 2018 hmmm like i said i already cancelled that in the download and sync tab. I guess i must have accidentally selected the convert option inside the episode? Still not sure why this would keep happening over and over even after I deleted the converted files. It seems like this would be a one time job, and not something the server would maintain as part of file integrity.
Luke 42085 Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 You must have created a conversion job on a parent folder, and therefore it is processing new items added to that folder.
thekingswolf 48 Posted September 15, 2018 Author Posted September 15, 2018 if it was on a parent folder, then why would it only be processing this same episode every time and not doing the others in the same folder? It seems like it's something I did on just this single file, which makes no sense since i haven't done anything with this show since i downloaded it. I haven't even watched a single episode yet.
ebr 16195 Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 if it was on a parent folder, then why would it only be processing this same episode every time and not doing the others in the same folder? You must have created a conversion job on a parent folder, and therefore it is processing new items added to that folder. Probably because the system thinks its new.
Luke 42085 Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Yea but it shouldn't get stuck in a circle like that. Please cancel the conversion job for now and then let's re-evaluate this with Emby Server 3.6. Thanks.
thekingswolf 48 Posted September 17, 2018 Author Posted September 17, 2018 k hopefully it doesn't happen again. As you can see from the screen shot, the files were all created on the same day, there is nothing special about episode 9, and it's not the newest item in the folder. So far it hasn't happened again.
