ieblj01 3 Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 I have been running Emby Server on Windows 2008 R2 server for some time and it worked flawlessly. Super fast streaming on both my local network and remotely. Earlier this week, the BIOS on my server motherboard decided to freak out. Long story short, i had to rebuild the Windows OS drive and reinstall everything. None of my media was affected because that all sits on a Synology NAS. The affected hardware is simply the Emby server front end. After rebuilding the W2K8 server (all patches, latest version of Emby) no videos will play (mp4, mkv, etc.) and audio files, if they play, the audio cuts out every other second. Emby logs show transcoding issue with invalid argument (logs attached). The issue is seen with the native Emby client app as well as EmbyCon wthin Kodi. Also if I try and launch movie from within Emby Server itself, same result. If map directly to the NAS with Kodi, everything plays fine. Originally had the media folders mapped within Emby using \\server_name\share\folder, then tried changing it to \\server_ip\share\folder, but it made no difference. Windows server specs: W2K8R2 Enterprise with all critical and recommended updates Emby v3.2.5.0 (Plugins: Auto Box Sets, Cinema Mode, IMVDb, Open Subtitles) 20GB RAM Intel i7-4790 @ 3.6GHz WD Blue 7200 1TB SATA for OS Any insight into this is greatly appreciated. embyserver-63672472738.txt embyserver-63672480000.txt ffmpeg-transcode-0fe9d54d-ed72-40d9-bf4f-a1d1fc6f6485.txt ffmpeg-transcode-02e024f3-1d0d-46c0-aeaa-54d937e9fdbd.txt
Luke 42089 Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 Hi, sounds like your Nas folder is unreachable. Can you look into that? Thanks.
ieblj01 3 Posted September 14, 2018 Author Posted September 14, 2018 Thanks Luke, Again, nothing with the NAS itself has changed. I can ping the NAS,map a drive to the NAS with no issues off the same server that Emby is running on. Kodi on an AFTV can talk directly to the NAS will no issues. When I add a library within Emby off the NAS, I get no errors saying it can't talk to it and it populates the library within Emby (although the auto box sets is definitely not working). It seems as if only Emby itself is having this problem. I will keep digging to see if there something I have overlooked when setting up the new server. Very frustrating.
Solution ieblj01 3 Posted September 14, 2018 Author Solution Posted September 14, 2018 Luke, I resolved the issue. Auto Box Sets immediately put all the movies into their respective sets too. Resolution: I had to enable file and printer sharing on the actual Windows/Emby server itself. That would have been enabled on the original server before the BIOS issues as I used to host the media on an internal RAID long ago. I didn't enable that when I rebuilt it since I was not sharing anything off the server any more. It's good to be back up and running!
