chrisputer 0 Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I'm trying to find a how to guide on creating a CDN with CloudFlare and Emby. I've found some guides for Plex but I don't know how to make it apply to Emby. I also don't know WTF I'm doing when it comes to NGINX. All the guides seem incomplete and all of my config files for NGINX when it gets installed are empty.
mastrmind11 722 Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 This one will hold your hand pretty nicely. https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-host-a-website-using-cloudflare-and-nginx-on-ubuntu-16-04

wedgekc 12 Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 Try this one: https://blog.awelswynol.co.uk/2018/01/setting-up-cloudflare-with-emby As others have said, you don't need to setup NGINX to use cloudflare.

chrisputer 0 Posted September 12, 2018 Author Posted September 12, 2018 Awesome and Thank you everyone. Do I need to have 443 and 80 unblocked by my ISP in order for this to work? I'm about to end my contract for a Business Class connection with them (THANK GOD!).
Swynol 375 Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 you dont need those ports unblocked but it does make it cleaner and easier. it annoys me when ISPs block those ports. But if your in a business contract then those ports should be unblocked
pir8radio 1312 Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 (edited) @Swynol I would like to suggest in your "how-to" you not use the cloudflare supplied origin certs. I would suggest you create your own self signed cert online with a fake domain name, since cloudflare will accept any origin cert without errors. That is if you want your server IP to remain anonymous. If you use CF Origin certs I bet i can tell you what your server IP is if you pm me your domain name.. @@ebr might be something for you to do so you don't expose your mb3admin ip to a DoS. Swynol 375 Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 @@pir8radio would be interesting to know how. my domain name is linked on here a fair bit but i'll PM it anyway - i used to use Lets encrypt but i got fed up of renewing them every 80-90 days 80-90days. DNS history gives very little away as i have a dynamic IP which i change every few days to a week. There's a few bits i need to change in NGINX which i havent done yet to up the security a little.
