Emby doesn't add items to play next if last episode has been watched

Some shows that have no continuity I watch the latest as they air but sometimes also watch that same show from the beginning. If I've seen the latest episode then play an earlier episode (and everything between is marked unwatched) it will not add the next unwatched episode in the list.

 

As an example, I haven't seen the first few seasons of Whose Line Is It Anyway before, so I'm going through them. But when the latest episode airs, I watch it. If I then continue the first season (say watch 1 episode 5) then I'd hope that emby would know the next one to watch is Season 1 episode 6 but this never gets added to play next.

I've noticed the same behaviour.  I usually mark a number of episodes in a series as watched (ones that I don't want to watch or that I have watched previously).  I was hoping that emby would go through the list starting at the first unwatched episode but instred it continues from the last watched episode.  The only way I've found to watch them in order and skip the ones marked as watched is to select them manually.  Is there a way to have 'Next Up' behave in this manner.

 

PS.  Not sure about the first post, but I'm watching the series episodes on a Sony TV using the latest emby app.

So far the best solution I've found is to find the show and hit the Play button on my remote with the show selected. This brings up a drop down menu and one of the options is "play next unwatched". To make this slightly less cumbersome you can add that show to your favourites so it's easier to find.

 

I'm using the Android TV version on my NVidia Shield TV, not sure if other clients will behave the same way (although obviously the up next issue is server side)

Hmm, on the Sony TV, I don't get a drop down (not that I've see anyway).  I can either select 'play next' or manually select an episode from the list.  The play next is always the one after the last one played, not the first unwatched in the list of episodes for that series.  I suppose whichever way they programed the server, someone would want the opposite.  Maybe they might add a configuration option in a future version if enough people ask for the feature, (Or maybe it can already done, and I have it set up wrong?)

The up next list as far as I can tell is always the next episode after the last one that's marked watched, so if you've seen the very latest there's no "up next" for the show (even though there are a load of unwatched in the middle). I've moved over from Plex, whose behaviour was that it would always have the next unwatched episode after the one you most recently viewed on the "on deck" which sounds like the behaviour you want (and is also how I think it should behave)
