AndyBak 17 Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 I have the following folder and file structure for my home videos in Emby:- 2015 \ Movie A.mp4 \ Movie B.avi \ Movie C.mov 2016 \ Movie A.mp4 \ Movie B.avi \ Movie C.mov 2017 \ Movie A.mp4 \ Movie B.avi \ Movie C.mov Now some of these folders work as expected, shown as a folder and then when I go into them I have thumbnails for all the various files, whereas a couple of the folders show as a single file and then when selected I have the option to select which version of the file I wish to play (with these versions being all the various files within the folder). Any ideas why this is happening? I just want them all to show as folders with multiple files in them. Thanks Andy
Happy2Play 9784 Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 What is the actual naming scheme? But what you are describing sounds like the multi-versioning. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/59502-date-in-file-name-triggering-multi-version
Luke 42085 Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Yes it sounds like you're having a collision with multi-version naming and/or multi-part naming. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !
AndyBak 17 Posted September 5, 2018 Author Posted September 5, 2018 Thanks guys, as an example one of the folders '2018' contains the following 4 files:- 2018-02-28 Snow Day.mp4 2018-04-15 Duxford Visit.mp4 2018-06-03 Little Dude.mp4 2018-08-11 Adventure Island.mp4 All with different sizes/timestamps etc. Thanks
ebr 16195 Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Yep, that matches our naming convention for multi-version items (starts with exact folder name + "-" and then anything else).
AndyBak 17 Posted September 5, 2018 Author Posted September 5, 2018 Oh well that's annoying, is there anyway to disable this functionality at library level? What's strange is its only doing in for some of the folders and they all follow the same naming convention, although I wonder if that is something to do with the amount of files within the folder (some have a lot more). I suppose the quickest fix will be to rename the folders, but I can't think of anything more appropriate than what they already are.
ryandavidg 30 Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Could possibly call the folders 16,17,18 instead of 2016,2017,2018, leaving the individual files with the full year in the title
Luke 42085 Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 There is currently no way to disable it but i agree that we should add a way.
AndyBak 17 Posted September 6, 2018 Author Posted September 6, 2018 Cool, for now I've just renamed the folders to 2K18..etc.
Happy2Play 9784 Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Same as I posted in the other topic, why have this feature apply to Home Videos content type at all?
Luke 42085 Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Because some would like to be able to use it.
