Remote access control

Hello everyone,

I need help with controlling access remotely, I noticed in the dash board log that someone access my Emby server and a watched a channel for 5 minutes and then disconnected.

Here is a test that i did to see if it was that easy:

Loaded up a USB Linux Distro on my laptop.

Went to a local restaurant with a hotspot connection

Opened a browser and typed in my wan url address with 8096, and it just let me right in to my server. No prompts, no options, just let me right in.

I thought this was controlled by user or Emby Connect, did i miss something. I want to lock it down from the outside.

Thanks.

I have to thank you for actually asking this question, because as a new Emby user, I didn't even think to check if the server dashboard was wide open with remote access enabled.

Anyway, you need to set a password for your account to lock it down.  You can also disable remote connections for other users you may have that don't need it.  By default, local connections to the server will not need the password to connect.  All of these option are under the user settings.

Thanks Noah, I actually notice a setting in the users, "Hide this user from login screens". Once i turned that on, it now pops up a "Please sign in" Box. I think this will do it.

Hi.  If you setup just a single user, didn't provide a password, and opened up access from the outside, then it will log you straight in.  OR, if you had already logged in and had the "remember me" option checked (it is by default) then it will also log you right back in.

You should supply a password for all your users.
