Can't play subtitles at all

Hello,

I have used Plex before but decided to try Emby when it stopped working. Really like the software this far, but there is a major dealbreaker for me. I can't play any subtitles. I have tested with both external srt, srt included in mkv file and subtitle image format in mkv.

My settings are: Preferred subtitle language: Any / Subtitle mode: Always play subtitles / Burn subtitles: All complex formats.

Have tried messing around with these settings but still see no option in Web browser or Android app to play subtitles. The "Search for subtitles" menu shows no results.

Maybe I'm just stupid and have missed something obvious, so please help me.

Hi there, have you tried turning them on in the video player by clicking the CC icon?

There is no CC icon. Is there an option to enable it?

No option is needed. Where are your subtitle files?

I have my .srt files in the same folder as the video with the same name as video file.

can you give examples of how they are named as well as your videos? thanks.

Ok, that should work fine. Try running a library scan and see if they get picked up. thanks.

Still nothing after library scan. Is there a way to reset all settings and clean reinstall?

Well you can uninstall then reinstall.

The subtitles appear in the media info section for the movie correct?

No. On every movie, only the .mkv file shows up.

Can you show a folder screenshot? Thanks.

Your screenshot shows no metadata also.  Where do you save metadata?

Testing showed no issue with exact same named files.

As I'm new to this program, not sure I understand what metadata means in this context. These are the paths:

Do I have to change anything below?

Okay you don't save anything with your media.  What does the web client show for that movie?

Yes can you show the media info for this title from the web app. Thanks.

Edit: Looks like the screenshot is corrupted. It doesn't actually have those white spots.

You have no Media Info so Emby has not probed the media or ffmpeg is failing on your system.  Can you Refresh the metadata and post the server log.

Should have media info similar to this
