GWTPqZp6b 50 Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 I noticed in the release notes for 3.6.0.31beta that the following item was listed... Remove anonymous usage reportingWhat usage were you collecting and was this something I would have been aware of and able to disable? The big plus for me of Emby vs Plex is no telemetry so would like to understand what this was related to .
Luke 42086 Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 We weren't really collecting much to begin with anyway. When an Emby client app connected to your emby server, that was reported so that we could identify usage per app. But we can get that info from app stores so that's why we've removed it.

The big plus for me of Emby vs Plex is no telemetry so would like to understand what this was related to . There was an option when you installed (or in your configuration) of whether or not to allow this but we never collected any information about your media or what you watched. We only attempted to see how many people were using what apps on what platforms. Thanks.
GWTPqZp6b 50 Posted August 31, 2018 Author Posted August 31, 2018 Sounds good - just wanted to make sure there wasn't more anonymous collection going on behind the scenes I didn't know about. Appreciate the transparency, thanks.
Hitec 1 Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Just browsing the forums and came across this thread. Big thumbs up from me. There are too many apps collecting data needlessly these days. It is refreshing to know that there are organizations out there that still care for their customers privacy.
