theideaofit 0 Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Hello, I have searched and searched trying to resolve my issues on my own. I have never posted here but the community looks helpful and polite. I really hope you guys can help. I have been using Emby maybe a year now. Love it. The customization aspect of colors and how I set up home screen alone are worth the jump from the other place. Recently it has been unwatchable though. Not sure exactly when because I have mostly been watch TV shows and it seems it mostly occurs with Movies. My kids are the heavy movie users. Full discloser I have made some changes to folders recently after rebuilding an array in storage spaces. If it was just a folder naming issue that would be great. Just need a shove in the right direction to get things handled. THE PROBLEM Open Emby and it looks great. I can navigate to the dashboard, TV shows, music, settings anything. Same goes for all iPads, iPhone, 2 Roku sticks and the Emby app on my Win 10 HTPC. Everything is pretty good it seems until I click on the movies folder. I can see some movies but not all. You have a brief period until the app locks up and you gets the dreaded spinning circle. No matter what device, iOS, Roku, Win10 Emby or even on the server it locks up. You must restart Emby. I have to kill it in task manager. It seems movies is the trigger. I can easily trigger the issue just by browsing the movies folder. It could happen some other way also though I have not found. New to drop box so hope it shows up well. No flames please. THE LOGS 1) It actually let me start a Movie and then it locked up when I got out of it. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/faol5npncih35sh/AABMqOT-X5Les4cXXoSaGfA4a?dl=0 2) Here it is after a fresh restart of Emby. https://www.dropbox.com/s/u930kqq8ra0iazk/Right%20after%20restart.rtf?dl=0 3)***This one is right after a fresh restart and then me purposely "tripping it" by browsing the movies folder. Super interested in what you think about this one. Not sure which one so here are two https://www.dropbox.com/s/v09gclltcwhozll/Restart%20then%20tripped.rtf?dl=0 or https://www.dropbox.com/s/kiv5jtwm18y7ioa/Restart%20then%20tripped2.rtf?dl=0 Thanks so much for your time!
Luke 42086 Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Hi, i notice you installed the new beta that was released today. Are you saying this still happens with that? thanks.
maegibbons 1287 Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Hi Just a point. Can you just upload your logs directly as a .txt file. Saving as rtf makes it difficult to read/search etc. Puts people off looking. Also easiest is to attach to your post using full forum editor Krs Mark
maegibbons 1287 Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Hi Are you using dlna devices to watch content? If not switch it off on the server. Krs Mark
theideaofit 0 Posted September 2, 2018 Author Posted September 2, 2018 Sorry for responding so late. I had to work Saturday and have 3 little boys so been busy yada yada. But I fixed it and have updates. I turned off all DLNA as said above. I think my issue was my library and file naming. Like I said In my first post I had made a huge change to storage spaces. My large space was broken up onto many separate drives to remake a new space or pool. Files were not neatly put back together. After spending a ton of time organizing my media folders again I verything seems to be stable again. There were some files that had tons of bad/wrong posters inside. When I would select one of the movies in Emby and look at the bottom to see the file path they were all the same two or three movies. One of my James Bond movies had over 100 bad posters and little 10 second clips of movies. Some I’d never even heard of. These hand full of movies were causing havoc on my library. Their folder naming structure is all messed up. There were a few files I don’t know if I should say here or not. Like 4 letters a number and a race car pic. They think they are the best. Not sure what those files are but I delete anything like that I ever see. Anyway squared away now and watching content again. Thanks guys!!!
Luke 42086 Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Thanks for the feedback. It sounds to me like changes to your storage had occurred and that perhaps Emby wasn't aware of it yet. It's possible that running a scan may have resolved it. Either that or perhaps the storage was just not reachable by Emby, and once that was cleared up you were able to play again.
