Come on Luke, 2018 the original request, and maybe in forum comments before that. This is a feature probably everyone wants, even if they haven't seen this thread. 😀

I use 3 of the 9 nav options in TV Shows and 3 of the 7 for Movies. I appreciate being able to set the default option for each (that's really good), but would very much like to get rid of the ones I don't use so I don't have to keep clicking through them to get the next one I want.

So here's my vote for making them configurable.

2025 here, +1 to this. It'd be nice to customize the Navigation Items for each library, especially since most of the users on my server are not using the web app.

+1. None of my users actually use the links because their intention / design isn't very clear. If the items would be self-contained sliders or whatever and would link to a specific filter containing those items (like how Netflix and Amazon handle this and how the homescreen does this as well) that would make much more sense.

Now we just have a grid (which is where users look first) and they just starts scrolling (hiding the nav items) become confused and stop searching.

Even I do that because I constantly forget there's a "suggestions/genres" link or whatever and just immediately sort or filter my items even if there's a button design to do exactly that..

I also think this ties into the "home screen" quite a bit where the current design is usable, practical, but not for people who have grown accustomed to larger streaming platforms. Those people get lost in the maze of buttons and dropdowns and filter and basically just give up.

+1 is this what Emby is about? Not implementing features for 7 years?

Seems very Plex-y to me.

This is a very reasonable, seven year old request with lots of support. Please implement it.

And it would be most helpful if every entry on the menubar was customizable as show/hide.

I'd likely want to suppress "Movies" and "Shows" because I prefer navigating to this content via Folders.  (And it's not lost on me that someone posting above wants exactly the opposite, and would like to suppress Folder View.  It's nice to have options which cater to all users).

I know Tags has more utility across the Emby platform, but I only use Tags on my content to enable Cinema Intros.  Ever since I started doing this, "Tags" appears in the header, and it simply has a useless list of all my titles for which I have enabled intros.  It would be preferable to be able to suppress "Tags" from appearing in the header, since for me, it is not an organized list and not useful for viewers.

Yeah, there are even older ones floating around. lol I wouldn't bet on this happening anytime soon.

I would.

Many of the "easy" request like this actually involve a complete re-design of basic sub-systems that the user isn't aware of.  Just such an effort has been started now.  I can't say when it will translate to this option but it definitely will at some point.

Where did I say anything about it being "easy"?

Please don’t put words in my mouth.

Just giving an opinion based on my view of Emby’s development history that 7-year-old requests don’t tend to be a top priority.

"Just such an effort has been started now." (only took 7 years)

"I can't say when it will translate to this option, but it definitely will at some point."
That could mean 1–3 years from now. At which point it could be a ten year old request. Like I said, not anytime soon.
