Turboschnecke 2 Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Hi, up to now i used the native mode in Kodi to access my files with the Emby plugin. Now i tried the addon mode and it doesn't work very well. I just can play some small SD files. When i try to watch a HD movie (8GB or bigger), its far away from smooth and the playback stops very often. I tried a wired (1Gbit) and a wireless (something about 100mBit) connection, but this changed nothing. Where is the problem? Does this setup need some requirements? The emby server runs in a virtual Windows 10 machine. It's the latest stable version. Someone got this working?
Shilow 0 Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 I use Direct Mode instead of Native Mode. In fact, I've never used Native Mode and always used Direct. I've never had an issue with media playing. In Emby Server library, I use local paths and also the "optional" network paths (Kodi uses this one on Direct Mode). I've done it with a Windows box, Windows VM, and now I'm using a QNAP... same settings without issue. All my content is MP4. To me, it sounds like a bottleneck issue in either trans-coding or broadcasting. I would check the resources on the Win10 VM (Task Manager or Performance Logs) first. Take a look at the CPU, Memory, Hard Drive, and Network utilization. (On both the VM & Host)
Turboschnecke 2 Posted August 28, 2018 Author Posted August 28, 2018 Does the Addon-Mode use transcoding? Then this could be the problem. The host has only a Celeron G3900 cpu. The VM has 2vCPUs and 4GB RAM. But i check it today evening. Then i also try to install emby at a different PC with a bigger CPU. Network and hard drive should be no problem. Emby lies at SSD and the content at an OmniOS file server. But i will see.
