A few UI questions, if you don't mind...

I did do a quick bit of searching the forums but as I did not know how to explicitly mean the UI style (see below) I could not find the answer to the following:
Is the newer UI going to be available on the Web app? And other devices like Roku/FireTV? Also, does this UI have an official name?

Thanks

Hi.  That is actually the old UI modeled after the Xbox back in about 2011 :).  Our defaults now follow what you would typically see in most streaming device and app interfaces these days.

Wow!

Thank you, ebr. As always, very helpful :)

Well, I would hope it understood that it is not my goal to be rude, but in my opinion in both usability and appearance it's a pretty big step down.

I actually go out of my way to use ( four letter "P" word) on the devices that I cannot use the old layout :( This really bums me out. I had thought more of that was forthcoming. Grrrrr I gotta rethink things.

Again, much appreciated for setting me straight, ebr :)

I believe their interfaces on the other apps are very similar to ours in general layout (in fact, I saw recently that it appears they've done a dead rip-off of our detail screen on Android TV :)).  What, specifically, is it that you find difficult in the default layouts?

Thanks.

I will set aside any aesthetic things as I know those are all a matter of opinion, but overall the look is just better (different size boxes, etc)

I enjoy going to a tab and seeing everything about THAT library. What new 4K movies were added? What TV shows do you need to finish? Rather than have them all crammed in to one. As you can see from my screenshot I like to keep my libraries in different buckets. One for Movies (SD and HD) one for 3D and one for 4K. Same for TV shows. One for my SD and HD and one for my 4K. The "cram them all into one" really messes with my head :)

And seriously, thanks for honestly asking and listening :)

Okay, but, when you enter any of those libraries, isn't that exactly what you see?  Just that information for that library?

The Home screen is designed to be an overall view of your entire library providing quick access to new things.  But, when you enter any library, you get specific information just for that.

Also, you can customize the home screen (click on your user icon) and remove whatever you don't want to see there.

Please let us know if this helps.

Thanks.

Absolutely. I have edited what is on my home screen. That is a nice feature. But the answer to your question about when I click on a library... is "No". When I click on Movies or TV Shows it takes me to the listing of all my movies or TV shows. Tabs are up top that I can navigate to Trailers, Favorites, Collections, etc... but nothing on what I need to finish or what is next or "because i enjoyed..."

Have you looked at the suggestions tab in each library?

Hey, Luke :) Thanks for reading and helping! Yes, I know I can get to suggestions via that way. And when I want suggestions I go there.

All I am saying is that due to (what could be described as rare) my setup I have personally found the older style to be much more user friendly to how I like my media presented. I suppose usability is just as subjective as aesthetics so maybe I am alone in this. I am just kind of bummed :(

That being said I do want to point out how awesome it is that the admins and devs care. Even though I am just one guy and one opinion, you want to hear what i have to say. You listen and even though I am out of luck in this case, you still try to help. So kudos and thanks.

Why would you use other software if they don't have that view either?

@@Luke Check your messages for images. I wanted to keep them somewhat private, but you can see how the view I am after is available in other software.

For anyone reading this, it turns out while not the same, making my default tab "Suggestions" gets me a lot close to the same usability.
