Cloud Sync Question

Hi all,

I've got a question related to gdrive cloud sync.

I see the "Emby Sync" folder and syncing movies/episodes works just

fine. What I'm wondering about is this: Why is a subfolder created in the

"Emby Sync" folder for every item in my Library that I'm browsing or

playing? Is this by design or a bug? I really do not see the purpose

of Emby creating all these empty folders in my gdrive.

Hi, what do you mean by empty folder? If it's creating a folder then it should be putting some media in there. Can you go over an example? thanks.

Hi Luke,

I'll post a log file when I get home tonight.

Just to be very clear here. The empty folders I am seeing in gdrive do not belong to shows or movies I started a sync for. If I look at a movie in the emby library (no playback) an empty folder is created for it in gdrive. I'm not entirely sure if this only applies to recently scraped movies.

Alright, here's the promised log file.

I did 2 things. I navigated to the movie Harcore Henry in my Library, checked

the folder "Emby Sync/Videos" in my gdrive and found an empty folder named

"Hardcore Henry (2015)" there.

Then I navigated to the TV show Banshee, Season 1, Episode 3 and in

my gdrive I found a new folder under "Emby Sync/TV/Banshee/Series 1"

Hope this helps.

Regards

It probably is still waiting to sync something to those folders I would presume.

Hi again,

I did not trigger any syncs in recent days, so can't imagine why this would be happening.

Maybe something else created the folder? @@softworkz is the primary developer for this feature so we'll see if he has any thoughts. Thanks.

Could it be possible that you had synced these items some time ago and removed the sync later?

To investigate this furher, could you please send my your 'sync14.db' file (zipped) via PM?

Hi,

I'm absolutey certain that I never tried to sync these items. I could navigate to a freshly added library entry and it'd be the same.

Anyway, I'll attach the db when I get home tonight.

Ok, what i think softworkz is trying to say is that we don't think this will happen anymore. It may have happened in the past due to a defect in an older server version.

Sync entries could also have been created by one of the many plugins you are using. That's why I'm interested in the db.

I'm not so much concerned about the folders that are being created on Google drive. This seems to be a bug in the plugin that creates that folder path when it is queried whether a certain item exists.

The question of interest is, why the GoogleDrive plugin gets queried for all library items, not just the ones that were actually synchronized.

Ah, understood. I'll pm you the db tonight.

Thanks for sending the requested information.

Both aspects of the issue (querying sync locations for non-synced items and creating Google Drive folders when only searching) will be fixed in the next release.

Hello softworkz,

just checking in to report that after upgrading to emby 4.0.0.2 and updating all my plugins, it looks

like this issue is resolved. Thanks for all your work!
