padrecito007 0 Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 (edited) Always the same error "Auto Option" Although the value was changed, it is not permanently saved. If the user enters his computer, "Auto Option" appears. The video stuttering for an hour or the duration of the video. Edited August 18, 2018 by padrecito007
ebr 16195 Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Hi. Sorry, I'm not following the issue. What, exactly, is the problem you are having? Thanks.
padrecito007 0 Posted August 18, 2018 Author Posted August 18, 2018 (edited) Hi. Sorry, I'm not following the issue. What, exactly, is the problem you are having? Thanks. The problem I'm having is that the video plays at 60Mbps the load is very slow, the stuttered video stutters, I do not know if you understand me. What I want is to lower the speed to 1.5mbps in the "User profiles" The user should enter their computer or TV at the chosen speed of 1.5mbps. But this does not happen. The user continues entering 60mbps. "Auto Option" Emby should save the 1.5mbps speed setting. Edited August 18, 2018 by padrecito007
ebr 16195 Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Hi. That bitrate setting is app-specific. When you set it there, it will only apply to the web app on that device. The user needs to change the setting in the app they are using. Does that answer your question?

The user needs to change the setting in the app they are using. Does that answer your question? It does not work like that. If the Youtube company said the same thing as you raise as an administrator. Users have to change the video quality, would you last at least one day in the administrator job? YouTube sends the highest resolution, and then decreases if the connection to the network is slower. PLEX does that several years ago; reduce the speed according to the connection to the network. Since Emby can not do that; at least I would like to set the default speed. The user does not click on the nut to set their speed, because they have no idea why the video is slow. Now you will say that Emby is for scenarios where there is good connection to the network. but that is something that can not be managed; since the videos are increasingly high quality and the trend is to continue increasing the quality. In all this, Emby will continue to assume that the user must click on the nut and pick up their speed as if they knew about it?
ebr 16195 Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Hi. If the setting in the app is on "Auto" then we will test the network speed and choose accordingly as well. The exception to this is if the app is on a local connection. In that case, we assume a high-speed connection. Are you running over a VPN or something that would make the app think it is a local connection when it really isn't?

But keep in mind that there is not only emby in the network of the house. There is also Internet, voip, videogames, etc. In the Home Router I assign the speed of 10 Mbps for the use of Emby, and the remaining speed for the other services. If I let emby work to "Auto video quality"; it does it at 140Mbps. Then all the services collapse, there is nothing else in the house. Emby videos, online games, downloads that are being made at that moment, youtube, netflix, etc. Everyone is harmed. No service has quality, all stutter, voip ip, netflix stutter, etc. Did you think about that situation?

We haven't had any other users yet with that kind of restriction on their bandwidth locally but the solution is to set each app to 10mb/s in its settings. That will only have to be done once in each app.
