Metadata images not in media folder ?!?

@@Diedrich thanks for the input however I'm running FreeNAS 911. I have no issue accessing or writing to these shares. the nas is also used for file sharing and there is no issue there either

 

@@Luke suggestions please. Is my understanding correct?

the nfo files are used to store metadata and can be used to point to custom artwork or other custom info relating to the media contained in the same folder as the nfo?

 

If I manually change info in the file and settings in metadata manager are set not to over right, the information within the nfo file will be used by emby?

 

What actions cause the nfo file to be read?

 

From what i am seeing, whilst the nfo file is updated in the folder if i change the info it contains it is not being read

 

Another question.......

Do nfo files get over written even if "lock this item to prevent future changes" is ticked in metadata manager?

Sorry i forgot, we removed audiodb from 3.5.2 temporarily due to a problem that appeared out of nowhere. It will be restored for 3.6. Thanks.

OK I could do with some help pls.

 

I feel sure emby has a problem so how long till next release?

 

In the meantime to try and resolve (I have had this working historically) I have tried the following to no avail

• created a new user profile in windows with local admin rights 
• made sure had read/write on freenas share
• installed emby from scratch
• created 2 small test libraries
  • One on freenas
  • One on the local disk
• Unticked audiodb from options

Still same problem no local images.

That doesn't apply to Windows though.

 

I can't reproduce this (local media).  Images and nfo are added for Albums in media folder.  Images and nfo added for Artists in metadata/artists folder.

 

Only thing I can think of is post a file that we can test with.

I did 14 albums and 13 of the 14 had images saved in the album folder.  And a edit image on 14 saved to folder.

Odd, Doesn't work for me, embeded images or metadata provider?

 

 

if it matters these are flac files

and my file structure doesn't include the year in () for albums. Use that convention for movies only

@@Happy2Play my settings are the same only I don't have "download images in advance" ticked. Ticked that option but still no difference

 

@@Vicpa Glad I am not the only one able to produce this issue.

 

 

I have uninstalled latest emby server completely and installed Version 3.4.1.0. This appears to work a little better. For example it pickup the backdrops, Banner and logo images I manually put in the top level folder automatically on one of the library scans.

 

However,

 

• It didn't create a NFO file in this folder.
• And another backdrop image which emby must have pulled down is displayed for folders with no backdrop images but isn't in any folder I can see. Is this intended behavior?

So to further my emby music lbrary image knowledge might someone answer the following questions a link to the man pages that provides answers as my google fu has failed to answer them.

 

1. Banner.jpg - where is this displayed and on what pages
2. logo.jpg - Is this displayed anywhere other than when you hover over relevant image
3. Backdrops - are these only displayed in the album folder
4. Clearart - when/can these be used for music
5. Poster - when/can these be used for music
