The Open Movie DB vs. TheMovieDb metadata scraper

Hello

 

Just a quick question, as I am a bit confused on the scraper and location that the data is being collected.

 

There is two options in the Metadata section of my server prg/movies for priority scraping, one is "The Open Movie DB" and the other is TheMovieDb.

 

When I do a search on google or bing for "The Open Movie DB" , its first hit is TheMovieDb.org - so what is the difference if any?

I would think "The Open Movie DB" is referencing to this : http://www.omdbapi.com/ which is an open thing compared to imbd since you have to pay loads to use their API

Beardy is correct.  They are different sources.

 

Just for the record, I know that is a common term, but neither of these providers is a "scraper".  We don't scrape any data off of web pages.  We are using published APIs.

So which API/site has "better" data for us to use? Without some meaning attached to the names in Emby's settings, they're mostly meaningless. Can we get some guidance, please?
