Video displays as blank/black on the new releases of Emby for Android Client. Sound plays fine. Uninstalled, Reinstalled, Cleared Data. Nothing fixed the issue. I can use an external player and it works okay. Reverting to an older version of the client restored functionality.

Hi, what version of Android does this run?

Wikipedia says FireOS 5.6.2 is based on lollipop.

What older version have you reverted to?

I had the GP version of 3.0.9. No video. Went to github and randomly selected a slightly older version 3.0.0 and it works as expected.

Is that the most recent one that gives you video playback?

I can confirm this.

Android fire Tablet 10 inch on 5.6.2.0

installed Emby from the Google Play store 3.8 appears to be current- Audio is fine no video.

Noticed this when I tried to use emby's download option on a few videos for a camping trip.. and found no video.

when attempting to install Emby from Amazon...

it shows it is not compatible with my 8 inch or 10 inch (Names cut out to protect the innocent fire tablets  :) )

I've not attempted to revert yet thou - Since I I also have Kodi on the Tablet and Emby linked thru that works fine.

The tags on Github don't seem to relate to version of the client.

Not sure where to download the other versions.

3.0.0 which I think is tagged 3.5.2 on Github works.

The client itself doesnt seem to show version numbers so I am relying on the app info screen to see which version I had.

The Aug 4th (24bfd67831f13ac5049aa0541af3f38572dc764e) release plays the videos just fine.

uninstalled and installed the Aug 8th (6814763554b3d4f7371c56cfd2a5334fd5745748) which appears to be the one that breaks the video.

uninstalled and reinstalled the Aug 4th and appears to be good again.

Thanks for the info.

I just installed Emby on my Fire HD 10 for the first time and had the audio and no video problem.  Installed the August 4th off the Github and now it's working fine.

Thanks, we are looking into it.

I have this problem on the tablet with Android 6 remained, tried to install early versions, but not on one version of the video did not appear. You have to use a third-party player. The H. 264 codec is present in the firmware. Please help me. I apologize for my English.

That's strange. Thanks for the info.

Wanted to add. Third-party players do not work with the application all. Works well with MX Player, VLC player plays only the sound.

They probably don't like the stream url for some reason.
