Movies with 7.1 and 2.1 Commentary tracks

2 related audio problems:

 

#1. I've been keeping movies in 7.1 surround in case I upgrade.  On those movies however, the firetv automatically starts the stereo track, which is a commentary track.  I can not get it to play the 7.1 track if there is a commentary track included.

 

#2.  If there is a 7.1 surround track w/ no commentary track Emby transcodes the audio to stereo.  I get that the firetv may not support 7.1 surround (i haven't checked, tbh) but why can't emby transcode the 7.1 to 5.1?

What do you mean by this? What happens when you select the 7.1 track with commentary?

Have you checked the in-app downmixing setting?

If I select the 7.1 track (movie audio) it goes back to the commentary track.

 

My audio output is set to auto.

Good news?  I couldn't reproduce today, what I struggled with yesterday.  It didn't switch to the commentary tracks, and both played in 5.1 rather than stereo. 

If it happens again I'll send logs.
