Volley Error on Fire TV Stick

I have a guess at what may be going on here.

 

For each of you with this problem, is your actual Fire TV device named something like "Bob's Fire TV"...?  If so, can you try changing that name to something without that character and see if that makes a difference?

Edit: Sorry, it isn't the apostrophe - that should be fine.  It is a character like ö

that was the solution.

 

The default name of Amazon:

"[First Name]'s Fire TV" is the problem.

 

I have renamed my Fire-TV on the Amazon web store to a simple name and now everything is going well again as usual.

Okay, thanks for confirming.  We will make the next release of the app work with those names but, for now, the solution will be to rename the device.

It's strange, I renamed Android TV name and upgrade to 1.6.15 (playstore) from manually installed 1.6.0 and it's working now.

For the record im getting these same errors on my Firestick 4k. I have just edited my fire tv name to one word and I will test it out over the coming days and report back. Im figuring if this does solve it the issue may have been the apostrophe in my name Barry's Fire TV.

Intenta esto, mira que el nombre del dispositivo no contenga caracteres especiales.

Amazon puso un caracter extraño en el nombre del aparato y al cambiarlo lo ha solucionado.

I can confirm that this is not fixed. 

It is quite common to name the Firestick (by Amazon) in Spain in the following way:

Firestick de John Doe
2º Firestick de John Doe (2º = 2nd)
...

That º causes a volley error. I don't know if there are more chars causing this.
