I'm having the same problem.

 

Installed the server and app today to try it out and am quite happy with how well everything runs.

But before I will make the switch, I want to see what unlocking would cost, but sadly i cannot find the option to unlock anywhere in the app.

 

Installed from the play store. Will the unlock be device specific or will unlocking it on my phone also unlock it on my MiBox?

The unlock is not device specific but your phone and Mi run two different apps so they won't carry across there.  If you unlock the mobile version, it will be unlocked on any device running that app logged into the same Google account.  Same for the TV version.

 

I suggest checking out Emby Premiere as that will carry across both apps (and much more).
