TruePS4WiiUFan 0 Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 Is it easy for me as a beginner? I am not techy-savvy person. But I would like to use this as if it is simple to use. You know, no complications here or there. How easy is it to install Emby Software? My computer is not that powerful - it is about four years old and runs on Windows 10 (x64 bit). I see there are two separate installation packs for Windows 10. One is for Emby Server and another one for Portable Installation? That is where my confusion comes in play. What should I do? Which one should I choose? Do I have to depend on my browser to keep itself open all the times for the server to run on and from it to whatever device I am playing it off on? Similar to Plex? Any helpful advice or tips would be appreciated greatly. Thank you.
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 Welcome. Implementing Emby is very similar to setting up Plex Your post suggests you might have done that so if that's the case you can judge how difficult you found it. I consider the Emby UI to be easier to use. Emby has stricter requirements for library structure and file naming though so that's something to plan for. Installation is easy and PC power is really only relevant when transcoding. No computer running a modern OS is likely to have issues with native playback. The questions then are what are the playback devices, do they support your videos without transcoding, and ho many concurrent users are you supporting? I'd suggest just grabbing the first of the installers you mentioned. No, you don't need a browser up for the server to operate. The server has a process that will keep running after launch to serve up your media. Here are some tips: Separate different content into different folder structures Follow the naming wiki tag your music files correctly Buy a month of Premiere so your initial setup isn't hampered by free edition limitations Enable the option to store your metadata in the media folders 2
TruePS4WiiUFan 0 Posted August 12, 2018 Author Posted August 12, 2018 So I finally got it up and running. (The Installation server for Windows 10). Thanks! But should I do the portable installation as well? Or that is not needed? What is that portable installation for? Thank you in advance.
Luke 42093 Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 Hi, welcome. The installed version and portable versions are just a matter of preference. What you've done is fine. Enjoy.
TruePS4WiiUFan 0 Posted August 12, 2018 Author Posted August 12, 2018 Got it. Thanks guys for your help and feedback! Appreciate it! Last question: I don't see OneDrive Plugin in Plugin section... Are you planning on having it added to Plugin section? Or was OneDrive plugin already installed? How does that work? Thanks again. Have a great night.
Luke 42093 Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 We're interested in a OneDrive plugin but we don't have one right now. Thanks for the feedback.
