Server crashing?

This is very odd. Twice now, my server has just stopped working. The tray icon is there, but right clicking to browse etc, does nothing. Right clicking to restart tells me it's unable to. If I manually launch it by double clicking, it starts up. So it would have appeared to just crash/stop working. I'm attaching the log before it crashed, and after I restarted it.

Are you running with or without the modified dll i gave you?

Without it I haven't fixed why my hidden folders aren't showing, yet. Is that related?

I have got radom crashes as well.
Every time when I try to use the web UI and open my movie folder is starts pulling the pics but crashes after about 75-85%.

I cant restart the server and have to reload the program.
Doing the same thing again takes me to about the same % on the second page of my movies.

So i have no clue whats going on.
Its a new installation of Win 10 with all updates.

Update: Looks like a reinstallation of the server might have solved the issue.

I have the same problem. MrDons info about images seems to be correct. I have one movie on which it crashes every single time I open its page, and I noticed that there are some images missing from actors/crew...

Once I open that movie page, server just dies, trying to restart it does nothing and I have to kill the process and launch it again.

The movie in question is The Commuter and some of people which images are missing are Clara Lago, Roland Moller and Florence Pugh. I get that that probably means nothing and it might happen with any random movie, series, or actor (for me its the actors).

I am attaching the logs that are in order: I crashed the server and then restarted it (log 1), then I crashed it again and restarted it (log 2), and just for good luck, log after it died last time without me crashing it again.

I also recorded my screen, but I am not sure if that'll help at all. I hope the logs will be enough.

I've just had my first ever crash despite more than a year of 24/7 running with a big library, a few plugins and a few users with different clients. My experience seems to be related.

Had just added some videos and was browsing to it in the library through the web client. Had several connected clients at the time. Server just stopped responding to any requests. Same from other computer. Found a ffmpeg process working on transcoding, but zero CPU activity on EmbyServer.exe (always shows some usage when someone is streaming). Tray icon failed to restart the server. Manual kill of EmbyServer and the two Electron.exe and then launch of Emby server again, up and running without hesitation. (After that, before I saw these posts, I deleted the new media as it was no good quality anyway)

Last entry in the log was "Info ImageProcessor: Getting image size for item Person C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\metadata\People\S\... ...\poster.jpg"

Prior to that all requests were normal.

Running 3.5.2.0 on fully updated Windows 8.1 x64.

BTW, which is the other thread referenced in post #2-4?

Are you guys still seeing this?

Since I reinstalled, I haven't had it happen. But it was a random occurrence, anyway. Maybe I'll put it through its paces, tomorrow.

Yes, I haven't reinstalled. Any time I open that movie, instant crash.

So it's just one particular movie for you?

Its not really a movie, but a picture of some actor. Any time EMBY tries to load it, the server dies.

After some digging, I found its the actor Roland Møller (might be because of his name?) - nm3435612. He played in Atomic Blonde and in The Commuter. Right now, when I go to either of those 2 movies, the server instantly dies.

The weird thing is, that I know I looked at The Atomic Blonde page multiple times in the past (last time about a month ago?) and it never crashed my server.

I managed to get to his meta data page and look at the path and the folder exists and his poster is there too.

Is there anything else I might do to help you figure this one out?

My Windows locale is Slovak, but WIN since Vista or WIN7 uses UTF-8 for path names, so that shouldn't really be the issue either i guess.

I have not had any crashes, but on the other hand it seemed to be vulnerable whilst visiting an item at the same time metadata download is happening which only takes a few seconds unless you add a lot of stuff. I have the "Download images in advance" option enabled. So not likely to happen for me.

However, not sure if related but this other day a phone uploaded 4000 photos through the Android app, and during that and after, the server went very sluggish. Inconsistently slow loading of pages and elements within them when using the web app. Despite being local, it was like sitting on a high latency overloaded connection and did not even attempt to browse the phone photo uploads. Server was restarted and returned to normal. The following day (probably after a task scheduler triggered a library scan) i found it sluggish again, using constantly the equivalent of one full CPU-core of power, over 6 GB of RAM and slowly rising. System drive with Emby on good SSD, media on several decent local HDD's, 32GB RAM and i7-4790k CPU, and approx 15 hours later Emby still barely usable. Doubtful it was doing anything useful as there was no activity on the drive containing the actual photos. Logs showed no errors except for several hours prior, another library with books on a missing network share, where each item gets half a page of error report, leading to the log file to reaching 170 MB every day... I have however not had any problems with that before during those 8 months or so it's been missing.

I experience this problem now anytime I go to the main "Movies" library on any device other than a computer. Roku, android phone, iphone, and so on. To the best that I can, I've narrowed it down to the displaying of Poster. If any other display type is set on a web browser (IE or Chrome) then the server does not crash and have to be relaunched. If I navigate through "Latest Movies" on anything other than a computer, it doesnt crash. Once I try to navigate "All Movies" it crashes. theres no logs or any indication of which user was navigating to "All Movies" to cause it to crash.

I have a Dell R720xd w/ 64GB ram and 96TB Storage. This hardly seems like a hardware issue considering I have Plex running and never have an issue with that. Since the logs do not show any issues as to why Emby Server is no longer running or any activity as to which user was navigating at the time it crashed I have had to disable all users and be cautious not to look through "All Movies"

I was able to reproduce an image related crash and have resolved that. We should have that on the beta channel within the next couple days. Thanks.
