Looking for the 'Server Restart Plugin' everyday LIVETV stops working

Hi everyone,

Been using Emby for close to a year now as my only Media Center program and love it. However I have one annoying problem that after about a day or two I have to manually restart the Emby server to use 'LIVETV'. Movies will always work & Play but the Emby server has trouble picking up an available tuner from the HDHOMERUN and needs to be restarted to work normally.

I haven't dug into the server.log as I have been busy and I knew if I just restart the Emby Server Service it resolves it; but if im away it causes a disruption at home with the rest of the family..

I have Emby Premiere on a Windows 10 'dedicated server' and have the HDHOMERUN Prime with 3-available tuners; also using the most up-to date version of Emby. (can provide more information if needed.)

---

I read online there was a 'Server Restart Plugin' but I cant find it anywhere at all and I went looking.

Thanks to all the developers/community who made Emby happen, I enjoy using it and its worked great.

Thank you!

Greg

Hi, we discontinued it a while back. Can we look at your tuning issue instead? Thanks.

Thanks for response Luke.

What information would help diagnose the tuner issue?

Thanks again, Greg

If you run Emby as a service it's easy to schedule a script to restart it at whatever intervals you would like. Just a thought in case the read all issue won't be solved.

Thanks all,

I found this article on running Emby as a service (Thanks LUKE for posting it!)   https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Running%20Emby%20Server%20as%20a%20Windows%20Service

Today I'm going to try to setup Emby as a service and use 'Task Scheduler" to automatically shutdown/start the server while family is asleep every morning.

Will keep everyone posted if that resolves my 'LIVETV' issue as I personally looked through the logs and it seems the server can't pull a tuner as it believes all 3 are being used 'When they are not and are all available on the HDHOMERUN'. (Will see if setting up Emby as a 'service' will also resolve my issue? - I will follow up.)

Thanks everyone for your help and feedback, its appreciated!

I think the problem you are having is the same as what I encountered here:

We believe the problem is leaving the tv stream before it starts playing. This may cause emby to hold onto the tuner cause it doesn't know the stream has ended. I hope to find a better solution then restarting the server every so often.
