Skkittlebomb 2 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 (edited) I have spent countless hours reading this WIKI and I'm just not getting anywhere. I've tried multiple ways to get Emby up and running on my new PC. Starting at the top, and working my way down. Yet I have no progress... I'm completely lost and have no clue how to get Emby up and running on my new PC. At this point, the backup plugin is expired on the new server. Not sure why... I started this process yesterday. *Edit* I did, in fact, get the backup plugin installed after all. However, it just buffers, for hour and hours. It did this yesterday too. So I deleted the new server and started again. Therefore I cannot use my back up files. I also have no clue what the directory path is, where the old one is and what to put where. I'm completely lost when it comes to the backend of my beloved Emby! lol I have backup files... and that's about it at this point. Any help is much appreciated =) Edited July 28, 2018 by Skkittlebomb
Luke 42083 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 I also have no clue what the directory path is, where the old one is and what to put where. Hi! First things first, do you still have your previously created backup files, and do you know where they are?
Skkittlebomb 2 Posted July 28, 2018 Author Posted July 28, 2018 Hi Luke, Yes, I have my back up files. They are included on the external hard drive with all my media.
Luke 42083 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Ok so on the new server the first thing to do is configure the backup plugin to point to your backups folder. Have you done that?
Skkittlebomb 2 Posted July 28, 2018 Author Posted July 28, 2018 Yes, I followed the step by step, and nothing happens. I see my backups to choose from, I select the one I want. And the circle in the middle of the screen just buffers. I leave and come back hours and hours later, and it's still going around, buffering. Am I missing something *confused*
Luke 42083 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Hmm, ok, that is not right. Can you please attach the emby server log after doing that? To do this, go to the logs menu item on the left, click the latest log which will open in a new window. then right click and save the contents as a file. then please attach that file here by clicking more reply options next to the Post button. Thanks ! 1
Oracle 85 Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Would love to know how to get started backing up my emby server. At some point in the future, I am going to transfer to a new PC.
Skkittlebomb 2 Posted July 29, 2018 Author Posted July 29, 2018 (edited) I hope this is ok. I saved in both word and notepad EMBY LOG.rtf EMBY LOG NP.txt Edited August 4, 2018 by Skkittlebomb
Eddie 12 Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 @ Go to the download plugins section and search for the backup plugin... its very simple after that
Skkittlebomb 2 Posted August 4, 2018 Author Posted August 4, 2018 @@Luke Did you manage to look at my logs?
Luke 42083 Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 I don't see anything obvious here. Can you try updating to Emby server 3.5.2? We have also pushed updates to the backup plugin recently. Please make sure everything is up to date, and if there is still a problem then we'll help you check the browser debug console for an error message there. Thanks.
Guest asrequested Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 (edited) I just had this happen. I resolved it by linking my user account to emby connect. Once I clicked the link in the confirmation email, it worked. Edited August 12, 2018 by Doofus
Luke 42083 Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 You're saying that as if there's a problem but you did exactly the right thing.
