Ok cool.

I have a 2013 model Sony tv. There is no app available for it, I have to use the emby DLNA server.

I'm not sure what Sony TV's have an app available. I'm sure someone else can provide info for you.

how does that work emby DLNA server

Emby server has a built in dlna server. You can use the preloaded dlna app on the sony to browse your emby content.
