BP325 3 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 I downloaded the server and everything was great for a while, then my computer rebooted. I went and logged in to the server site and it was unable to connect. I realized it wasn't running, but when I click on it to run nothing happens. Is there something I'm missing?
Luke 42078 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Hi, did you start the server application from the windows start menu?
Luke 42078 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 So you're able to use the server from the same machine?
BP325 3 Posted July 27, 2018 Author Posted July 27, 2018 No, I'm on my only computer trying to get the service to start from the start menu and even as administrator and nothing happens.
ebr 16183 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Hi. Are any logs generated? How to Report a Problem
BP325 3 Posted July 27, 2018 Author Posted July 27, 2018 I click on the Emby Server Dashboard icon from the start menu and this is the page that comes up.
Luke 42078 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Can you do a quick test. Install the latest version from the website on top of your existing version. When the install completes, can you please let me know if the server is running and you're able to access? Thanks.
BP325 3 Posted July 27, 2018 Author Posted July 27, 2018 I can log in but the server is not running so I can't get to any screen for the logs I think.
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 if you are on 3.5.0/1 or Beta then thats the wrong url try just localhost:8096 or localhost:8096/web/index.html#!/dashboard.html
BP325 3 Posted July 27, 2018 Author Posted July 27, 2018 Will I lose all my data installing like that?
BP325 3 Posted July 27, 2018 Author Posted July 27, 2018 I know from previous experience that when I first install the server runs perfectly but if the computer reboots or I stop the service running then I can't get it running again - nothing happens.
BP325 3 Posted July 27, 2018 Author Posted July 27, 2018 I tried the localhost:8096 and same page unable to reach.
Luke 42078 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Ok I think you are simply trying to launch the web page without first starting up the server program. Does that sound right? You want to launch embyserver.exe before you do anything else.
BP325 3 Posted July 27, 2018 Author Posted July 27, 2018 No that's the problem I'm trying to launch the server program and nothing happens.
Luke 42078 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 I think you might actually just be launching a web page shortcut to the server dashboard, and not the program. Can you please locate embyserver.exe in the server's install folder and then double click on that? Thanks.
BP325 3 Posted July 28, 2018 Author Posted July 28, 2018 Somehow I don't have an install folder. It just installed the server and I only have two icons in the start menu. Run emby server and open the emby server dashboard.
Luke 42078 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 The install folder will be under windows user appdata. Did you look there?
Luke 42078 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 This is the path, it might be a hidden folder, just FYI: C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server Replace user with your windows user name.
BP325 3 Posted July 28, 2018 Author Posted July 28, 2018 I follow all the steps and there is nothing called appdata anywhere.
BP325 3 Posted July 28, 2018 Author Posted July 28, 2018 Ok I found the hidden folder and there are three emby folders emby tray, emby-installlogs, and emby-server. I click the emby-server one choose the system folder in that and click on embyserver application and nothing happens.
Luke 42078 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Well you wouldn't actually see anything. Now that you've done that, can you now try with the web browser again? thanks.
Luke 42078 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 What is the full file name of the embyserver application file that you clicked on? did you click, or double click?
