MindBullet 93 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Hey guys, so I have a weird problem. Every time I add a single episode of any series it won't load its metadata. For example "The Americans (2013)" or "The Affair". And all of this, while the metadata providers do have them in their repository. The wird thing is, that the metadata is loaded well, when I identify the entire series. After that the episode, whose metadata wasn't before, has the correct metadata then. For example:- "The Americans S05E06" is added to the scanned folder - Emby Server scan is successful - Episode would show without name with the title "S05E06" on the recently added tab. Not the correct episode title, no metadata - I identify the entire series "The Americans" - Episode shows metadata with its german title "Zuchterfolge", Episode plot is loaded, meta critics also - everything Do I have some wrong metadata settings? What could be the culprit? Do I have some server settings that prevent it being loaded? What would this be? Any help would be highly appreciated!
ebr 16185 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Hi. What exactly is "the scanned folder"? Are you using the Auto Organize plugin to move this into your library or adding it directly to the proper season folder within your library?
MindBullet 93 Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 Hey there, thanks for the quick reply. Here are 2 examples of what's going "wrong" and I've attached a folder structure picture also. And no, I don't use the Auto Organize Plug-in. I just put the file in the folder and Emby starts automatically scanning the new file.
ebr 16185 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Interesting. Can we please see the server log from when you did that? Also, are episodes 1-6 video_ts rips or something? I wonder if it is related to that mixture of types somehow.

All my older stuff is like that and it doesn't seem like Emby has a problem with that, not sure tho. And yes. I'll recreate the problem and add a new single episode, give me 10 minutes. Thanks for helping me <3 Edited July 26, 2018 by GodOnEmby
MindBullet 93 Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 By the way if I now identify the entire series "The Middle" it would show up correctly. What might cause this?
MindBullet 93 Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 (edited) So here's another picture of the recently added episode, but I don't know how to attach a file on this forum. How do I do that? Sorry for this newbish question, I'm completely new on Emby Got it! embyserver.txt Edited July 26, 2018 by GodOnEmby
ebr 16185 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Okay, you are on a beta version so that is one wrinkle but what, exactly, did you add and when in that log? I cannot find any reference to that episode of "the middle".

I cannot find any reference to that episode of "the middle". Okay I will do the logs once again, but cleaner this time and I'll give you the exact time, if possible. Also it seems like it's more global than I thought at first. I can't identify any series now anymore. I'll try to roll back to the stable server. Maybe the problem is gone anyways when going back to stable, I hope Edited July 26, 2018 by GodOnEmby
MindBullet 93 Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 (edited) @@ebr Okay wow. S*it gets even weirder I rolled back to the latest stable version and the metadata of the newly added episode is processed right away, no mistakes. But I'm not able to identify some entire series now. For example if I click on "identify" for the series "Yu-Gi-Oh!" the search results tab opens and no options for the metadata is loaded. It's just a blank window. Same for some other series, didn't test them all of course. Also "Dietland - S01E09" and another Episode are tagged correctly, but "The Middle" still isn't. I've attached the logs now. The time stamp for the added episode of "The Middle" is 17:18:49. That's when it appeared in the recently added tab. Do you think I need to re-add the entire library and build it from scratch? embyserver.txt Edited July 26, 2018 by GodOnEmby
MindBullet 93 Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 (edited) I don't know if it's of any help, but these are the 2 entries for the event, when I clicked on identify for "The Middle"2018-07-26 17:44:10.558 Info HttpServer: HTTP POST UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/68.0.3440.75 Safari/537.36 2018-07-26 17:44:10.559 Info HttpServer: HTTP Response 200 to 192.168.178.35. Time: 1ms. Okay. I have to apologize for all the excitement. I think it was because I've set the Metadata to be "locked" from the metadata manager.....The mother of stupidity is always pregnant. Sorry for all this. But maybe some other douche is of the same idiocracy as me and finds it helpful Confirmed working now ... Edited July 26, 2018 by GodOnEmby
Luke 42081 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Would it be better if we just didn't have locking anymore?
pünktchen 1409 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Would it be better if we just didn't have locking anymore?Oh my god, NO!
Luke 42081 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Oh my god, NO! I'm wondering though if it might be better to just have field locking like we currently have, and not try to also combine that with entire item locking.
Guest asrequested Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 I want to be able to lock an entire title. For whatever reason, I have titles that don't set the metadata the way I want or is simply just wrong. I manual correct each field, then I lock the whole thing.
MindBullet 93 Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 Would it be better if we just didn't have locking anymore? No way! But as I was struggling with this for about 4 hours I think I didn't understand the locking thing on Emby to its entirety. Having Plex in mind, where you can simply lock a title and therefore the entire show, I think something like this could be cool on Emby too. I mean you can lock series, seasons, movies and single episodes on Plex, as you can on Emby, but i don't quite get the idea of the metadata manager. Being new to Emby and coming from Plex I couldn't figure out how to make a benefit out of it for my specific needs. Anyways it's good to have a locking feature. It's a must have
