jriker1 20 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) Curious. Know MB3 Server won't update the movies and stuff if running as a service. If you run it thru the task manager so it starts even if not logged in, will that work as if it was running thru a logged in user on the task bar? Running server on windows 2012 R2 essentials Thanks. Solution ebr 16179 Posted April 3, 2014 Solution Posted April 3, 2014 Curious. Know MB3 Server won't update the movies and stuff if running as a service Huh? All functionality is the same whether running as a service or not. The only thing the service can't do is automatically update the program itself. 1
jriker1 20 Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 Ahhhh. Ok I misread that. I don't care about that. Not an app auto update fan anyway so good deal. Thanks. JR
smitopher 19 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Do the devs and experts have an opnion about running as a service as opposed to running as an scheduled task? I read the KB thread and nothing was mentioned. I'm also running on 2012 R2 essentials. I'm currently running as a service.
Danee 57 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 This: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/6115-task-scheduler/?p=85913 is your answer.
jriker1 20 Posted April 27, 2014 Author Posted April 27, 2014 (edited) Run it as a service so it can auto restart as needed however make sure the Log On tab on the MediaBrowser Service is set to Local System Account and check "Allow service to interact with desktop". You should also set the service to "Delayed Start". The third part was key for me to get it to run without logging in. Thanks. JR Edited April 27, 2014 by jriker1
